Book Description

From USA Today bestselling author Sandy Blair comes an award-winning paranormal time travel fiction set in medieval Scotland. The Laird contains alpha male Highlanders, ghosts, action, suspense, humor, drama, history and romance.

Cursed on his death bed centuries ago, the laird of Castle Blackstone, Duncan MacDougall, wanders the echoing halls of his island bound home as a ghost. Knowing only one woman has the power to set him free, he follows his castle’s newest mistress with great interest as she tours her inheritance for the first time. Could this plain, odd woman from across the sea be the one?

Raised in the New York foster care system, street-wise catering director Beth Pudding isn’t easily frightened. But then she isn’t alone in her new home. A handsome specter with piercing blue eyes is following her as she evaluates the wisdom of keeping her inheritance, a decrepit island-bound castle. Who is he? And what does he want? Her hunt for answers soon takes both on a journey of discovery neither could never have imagined.

About the Author

Award-winning author Sandy Blair has slept in castles, dined with peerage, floated down Venetian canals, explored the great pyramids, lost her husband in an Egyptian ruin (she still denies being the one lost,) and fallen (gracefully) off a cruise ship. Winner of Romance Writers of America’s © Golden Heart and the National Readers Choice Award for Best Paranormal Romance, the Write Touch Readers Award and CAPA for Best Historical, the Golden Quill and Barclay awards for Best Novella, nominated for a 2005 RITA and recipient of Romantic Times BOOKReview’s 4 ½ star Top Pick rating, Sandy loves writing about Scotland’s past. When not writing, Sandy enjoys dinner parties with friends and family, teaches on-line courses on writing and supporting local charities. She resides in New Hampshire with her tall Scot hubby and fluffy mixed breed muse, Coco.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Highland Story to warm your nights! February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
In The Laird, first of A Castle Blackstone Novels, Sandy Blair creates a tale that makes you believe time travel is possible. Beth Pudding conquers time travel, two foreign language deficits and a ghost/Laird in medieval Scotland. Duncan McDougal is a man for the ages, fighting for his people and the love of a "wee bit daft" woman. Blair captures your imagination on the first page and doesn't let loose until the final page of the epilogue. If you love Scottish historicals, paranormals and witty dialogue, you'll love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! February 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I absolutely love to be taken away to another place and time, especially to Scotland and those "Hunky Highlanders"... and Sandy transports me there, so I am completely immersed and lost in her "Mystical, Magical World"!!!!! The Castle Blackstone Novels are my absolute favorite books, from Sandy Blair. I own ALL of Sandy's books, in paperback form and as this series becomes available in e-book format, I will purchase them ALL, so I can take them with me, wherever I may roam! I can't wait for the fourth installment in the Castle Blackstone series...I believe it will be called "The Warrior"?? Can't wait, thanks Sandy, and keep up the fantastic work! Alba Gubrath!

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware September 4, 2013
By KC
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you are already a Sandy Blair reader and have or have read A Man in a Kilt, DO NOT BUY The Laird because it is the same book published under another title with out warning. Even the dedication is the same! Shame on Sandy Blair - I bet the next book she is "working on" The Warrior is a reprint of A Thief in a Kilt, the third book in the original series; shame on Kensington publishing fpr not giving the original title even in the book itself.

I absolutely love this novel, it is my first from Blair and is not going to be the last. She is a great story teller that make you believe you are part of the action. This particular story was so romantic, touching and the love making was hot, sexy, real and charming. I am very happy that I found another author of this genere that I could say "I love this novel from beginning to end"

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Engaging Read! March 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I purchased this book because I love time travel romance, especially those that take place in Scotland. When I was first intoduced to the main character I wasn't sure if the book could keep me entertained. i mean, come on....her name is Beth Pudding. And the alpha male is a ghost....How is that going to work? But work it does! I fell in love with both Beth and the Laird, and I rooted for them all the way to the end. I will definitely read the next in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous read May 15, 2013
By Jen
Format:Paperback
4.5 Stars - The Laird is a wonderful romance set in both modern times and in the historic highlands of Scotland. It tells the story of Beth, a young woman with a heart-breaking background whose spirit and inner beauty captured my heart right from the very beginning.
Beth is the antithesis of most heroines in romance novels in the sense that she is described as 'plain' in appearance. She desperately longs to love and be loved but has resigned herself to a life without this heart's desire.
She unexpectedly inherits a castle in Scotland which is haunted by a ghost who has been trapped by a curse. She could be the chosen one who can break this curse but he won't know unless he takes her back in time with him.
Sandy Blair has woven a wonderful tale of love, honour, clan loyalty, betrayal and adventure. I found myself fascinated by Beth's experiences in her time travel to the past and Blair writes with a humour I really enjoyed and I found myself chuckling aloud on many occasions.
Duncan, the hero is a sexy, hunk of a man with a strong sense of honour and bravery.
This book was a delight from beginning to end and I would recommend it to romance lovers of all kinds!
