Product Description

Laird Carrick MacDonell believed he fought well at the Battle of Culloden Moor in 1746, but not well enough. Having lost most of his clan as well as his beloved wife, he is a broken man. To assuage his pain, he seeks the assistance of a witch to help him die. Instead, she informs him that his wife is reincarnated in 2009 and she sends him through time to find her. Carrick arrives in 2009 and finds Jenny, now Caitriona MacPhail. Believing him to be a reeanctor from a Highland games, Cat puts no stock in his story and turns him over to her Scottish grandfather, a retired doctor who believes Carrick's tale. Cat eventually remembers Carrick and they are wed in Scotland. Cat is accidentally transported back to 1746, two days before Cumberland wreaks destruction on the glen. Carrick and Cat's grandfather and sister find a way to travel back to 1746 to save her. They arrive amidst Cumberland's butchery and begin to pick up the pieces of their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Gotta Read!!!, December 27, 2009
This review is from: Laird of the Mist (Paperback)
If you love historical romances, swoon over a handsome Scottish Highlander, then toss in a genuine accent, you have Foery MacDonell's new book, Laird of the Mist. I couldn't put this novel down. It hooked me from the first page and kept me flipping the pages until the very end...*Sigh* and you just know with the ending, there's more to come...Five stars and praying Miss MacDonell writes her next book very fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of action, adventure, and romance, July 30, 2011

This review is from: Laird of the Mist (Kindle Edition)
Carrick Macdonell lay badly wounded in the battle of Culloden Moor and watched his wife be murdered in front of him. As soon as he heals from his wounds, he goes to the local wise woman with the request the potion that will help him die too--he has lost all will to live. She doesn't give him the potion but some information that's almost too much for him to bear--his Jenny is dead only in body. She's reincarnated in the future and the wise woman can send him there to awaken her memories and reunite with her.

And thus begins a ripping great adventure that travels to our time and then back again. The plot is perfect, neither boringly slow or unfairly quick in the details. The characters thoroughly likeable, if a tiny bit cliched, and I found myself caring about their welfare. Macdonell did a wonderful job on her research into the world of the Scots at that time, warts and all, and she places it perfectly within the story and the story within the time.

A really good book that I can heartily recommend to any and all. Worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Read, December 27, 2010
This review is from: Laird of the Mist (Paperback)
I zipped through this in an afternoon. It's very fast reading and it's a pleasant story if you like time travel romances. The author has done some good research on Scotland in the 1740s. Only thing bothered me is that it ended so suddenly that it begs for a sequel. Good characterizations and decent story flow. This is the first novel I've read from this author. I'm willing to see more.
