I travel to Vermont several times a year and it is my second "home" so to speak. I love the Lake and the surrounding area and I couldn't wait to get this book celebrating it's quadricentennial. It is expensive at $45.00 and I was putting it off until I could get a used copy. That was nowhere to be found, so I broke down and purchased it. I have to say that when I first received this book, I was a bit disappointed that it did not have lots of big, colorful photographic images of the Lake as it is today. I am not really a history buff and this is basically a historical work. I was expecting more of a picture/coffee table book along with the information to go with it. However, once I started to read - and I have just started - I found it very interesting and I could feel what I feel when I am visiting the area every year - my most favorite place in Vermont! You can tell a lot of work went into producing this book and I can't wait to continue along the journey described as the Lake evolves.

For colorful photographs I also purchased a used paperback copy of Paul Boisvert's Lake Champlain, A Photographic Discovery.
