The melody in music returns with LAKE 2,

THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME! As a child of the 80's and 90's, this album had awesome musical emotion! Harmonies that SMOKE Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young!Well written and performance beyond anything I've heard in a while, this band is a refreshing, nostalgic musical journey that is hastily embraced by the soul!

a buddy of mine just made a tape of lakes best for me because he knew i liked this style of music but i've never heard of them. wow! am i surprised this is the way music should be played. great harmonies and vocals along with excellent musicianship.if you like toto, kansas shooting star and pablo cruise this is a combo of all of them at its best especially scooby doobies and see them glow . great songs. for any fan of that late 70's early 80's classic rock this is a must along with their 1st album.GET IT!

Get this with Lake & Paradise Island,

This review is from: Lake II (Audio CD)
Lake II continues in the same mode as the first eponomyous album and Paradise Island, their third. The nice thing about all three albums is that, although they have a distinctive sound thanks to the vocals of late singer James Hopkins-Harrison, their albums don't sound the same. Every song stands on its own. I wouldn't recommend anything after Paradise Island, though. These first three are definitive Lake, that's the reason that 14 of the 17 tracks from their greatest hits CD are from these three albums.

One of their best....,

These guys were just under appreciated!!!!!! What a shame. So much good music that was never heard (Scotland's Deacon Blue was another way under appreciated band). Lake picks up with Lake 2 where they left off with their first album, and carries on with it in Ouch! (my personal favourite Lake album). I'm glad to see that their music has been make available on CD.

I was lucky enough to be in Germany when this band toured for "Paradise Island". I had heard of them from a Don Kirshner Rock Concert performance and I was so impressed that when I saw they were appearing at a small venue in Karlsruhe, I convinced my buddy to drive us to the show. Don Kirshner described this band as a cross between Yes and Fleetwood Mac. That's about as accurate a description as I have heard. This was a great CD and I had owned it only on cassette for many years, hoping the tape would not break. They were an awesome band live and I still have the poster and picture disc of Paradise Island to remind me how great they were.

This music should not be missed ! It's seems mainstream radio and just about anyone in the US missed this music. Check out" see them glow" and the lenghty "scoobie Doobies". This group from Germany really puts a unique sound out. Before buying, I strongly suggest "Lake" the first album, oops CD, you'll love the harmonies !!

This German-American band is one of those "should have made it" bands. This is their 2nd out of four American releases and I think their best. Superb harmonies, flawless musicianship and a whole load of melody. Having a current album and cd collection that numbers over a thousand, I can without hesitation say that it's in my top 5. Five band members take part in their awesome harmonies. Sure it's got that late 70s sound but so many of the songs are timeless. "Love's The Jailor" is a painful ballad about the confusion and turmoil about being at a place in a relationship and in life that's not quite what was expected. I've yet to figure out who "See Them Glow" is about..but the story about a famous singer and his lover is a song not to be missed! Enjoy!

Excellent Music and Harmonies,

This is an underrated band from the late 70s and early 80s: Lake. The tunes are fantastic, the instrumentals are really great, and the singing harmonies were some of the best in the 1980s.
"Scoobie-Doobies" is perhaps the best song of the group. The singing and lyrics are some of the best on this album. It's really a shame this didn't produce a hit in the USA. "See them Glow" is a timeless hit of pop-culture that is as true in 2011 as it was when originally released in 1978. Once again the harmonies are great and the lyrics to the music could apply to any pop-star in the two-thousands. "Caught by the Way Side" could be counted as my second favorite tune. It has a great deal of humor. So, if you're a former service member, ex-pat era college student, or a Military dependant then this is one of the better albums from our youth. BTW, the CD is great. I loved the sounds and there is not "pop or hiss" that you used to hear on the record albums.

A friend of mine brought this over to my place in the '70s and I had to have a copy. They were on LP then, when the cassette was becoming popular. We listened to this album over and over. Timeless music that still rocks, especially "welcome to the west". Having this on cd is sweet.
