Sometimes the greatest insights on art come from those who are not "experts" at it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mary Blocksma's experience of secluding herself on what starts out as a wintry Lake Michigan and trying her hand at painting. She makes astonishing progress with her near-daily practice of interpreting what she sees. I long to do something similar someday.I look forward to reading more by Blocksma.
