Editorial Reviews

Review

"Your cruising guide was just an immense help. Everywhere we went the people we met wanted to see the cruising guide, and every single one of them was impressed. One of the ship's stores we stopped at told us they could not keep them in stock. Great job and very much appreciated by novice cruisers! We do appreciate all of the hard work and thought that went into them." -- Kristina M. Truthan, Hilliard, Ohio

From the Publisher

We recognize that you have many different choices available as references for finding your way around the Great Lakes, but in our humble opinion, they all miss the essential ingredient of cruising: the fun. And that is what we hope the Ports O' Call series provides you. This book emphasizes the intrinsic nature of each port and the various attractions and amenities offered to the cruising boater. Beyond the full-color aerial shots to help you recognize and negotiate the breakwalls and channels, we also provide the lat/lon and a reduced reproduction of the most recent NOAA chart available. We're here for the fun, and we hope that our offering will tempt you to go beyond the familiar and explore the new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth every cent!, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Lakeland Boating Ports O' Call Lake Michigan: Volume 2 (Includes a 27" X 36" Lake Michigan Chart) (Spiral-bound)
I've been cruising Lake Michigan for years... We've been in every port on the Eastern side of the Lake in our 43' Hans Christian cruise sailboat. This book
shows you everything you need to get around in a strange place. Where to dock or anchor when comming in after dark, Marina phone #'s, bridge opening schedules, aerial photos, charts of the port areas, where to eat, shop, etc... I'm not sure what I'd have done on many occations without this book.
It's the book I use when planning our cruises and routes.

Anyone who gets a little nervous about entering an unfamiliar port-o-call on Lake Michigan must buy this book. Being a rather frugal person I put off buying this book. What a mistake. We use it constantly, even on ports we have been in multiple time. The pictures and the telephone numbers are just the trick. As numbers change over the years we make notations in the book and they are there for reference.
