I really wanted to like this. It is really neat for the first few minutes, for adults and kids alike. At Christmas my entire family of all ages all liked playing with it and experimenting with making the color change. But after that no one really was interested any more. When brought home my two year old didn't have the patience or understanding to stick with it because the color change takes a few moments to kick in. My 9 year old had more fun things to play with. The color changes back rapidly or slowly depending on the ambient room temperature.

Maybe this would be better for a child who likes to sit quietly and focus on sensory experiences. For most kids though, it seems like this would be neat for a few minutes and then lose it's appeal.

I thought this would be an interesting addition to my classroom and was rather upset to find that it didn't work as described. In the catalog it shows the board being used to trace letters which is impossible. It's essentially the same components of a mood ring and it takes far too long to warm up. The children became bored quickly when it took too long. Might be more interesting for older children over 5. It is sturdy but definitely not worth the price..
