I bought 8 of these. I use them to cool my audio visual equipment and they work great. They do an excellent jobin keeping my audio receiver, blu-ray DVD player and TV cooled down. I also use them to keep my computer cool.

If they are loud, it may be the that the rubber feet need adjusting. You can take off the front of the fan for easy cleaning. I had only one fan that made a little noise, so I removed the front and sprayed a little WD-40 on the shaft and it worked great.

Of course, you cannot hear them at all with 7.1 Surround sound.

I ordered a Lakewood 4 inch fan and received a Westepoint 4 inch fan. I use the fan to cool my Tower( I have removed one side), and this fan is kinda loud. I knew it was a single speed, but all the Lakewood fans I have owned before were quieter. I couldn't send it back, as I had to have the fan to use my computer, and I do everything by computer!
I know next time I see the Lakewoods on sale someplace in person, I had better buy 4 or 5 as they run almost 24-7. If this fan lasts the year, I will feel like I got my money's worth, we will see. I do have to admit, the black frame and silver blades look nice, but no one(including me) get to see it working, it sits atop my Tower in the cubby on my desk.

I saw these little fans in Hawaii under a different brand name. I thought they looked well-made and handy. I have come to avoid a lot of plastic stuff, which to me, appears cheap and breakable. Whether they are better than similar sized plastic fans, I may never know, but I like the retro, utilitarian look and size.

I had never seen them before on the mainland so I Googled until I found them here at Amazon. I found various models of what I think is essentially the same fan, even though there are different model numbers. If there are real differences, the product descriptions do not make that clear enough. The one I bought was the cheapest at $10. I liked it enough when I received it that I ordered more at that price. They have been backordered for a while. I'm not sure if I can get another for $10 (a bargain, I think), but if one suits your fancy, it might be worth a bit more. My only criticism is that the stand is a little lightweight, so it can be a bit tippy when angled down a lot, but fine when set up normally. The stand does allow it to be easily hung from hooks or adapted to unusual applications.

I needed a fan when I travel to circulate air on my face, and to use to dry out my ice skates or wet boots. This fan does these limited jobs admirably. Plus it's small enough to pack in a suitcase. My fan never quit, but eventually the stand came apart from the stress of being jammed in a suitcase, hence my need to buy a replacement. Don't expect it to move air more than a couple of feet. My old one rattled slightly, but it was about the level of a snore from a medium sized dog so it wasn't horrible. If it does rattle, the construction is simple enough that you can dampen the sound yourself.

This thing is great for smaller areas (ie desk, on a bed head-board etc.) not super quiet but not as loud as some either. Lots of air flow for a tiny fan. I used it in my car with an inverter.

Works just fine but it is a little loud - it will rattle after awhile. I wanted in my TV cabinet, just to give some air flow. Now I just use the fans for computers now. I still have it and use it in my shop...

I bought this Lakewood fan about 5 years ago at Walmart for $5.00 and it just quit working today. It served its purpose without fail for a long time and was worth every penny.
