I have one bedroom that is very drafty and cold on the north side of the house. I use this heater to warm the room up and it works great. I have to say that it works best in high 1500 watt mode...I don't usually bother with any of the lower settings. It's been working great for three years now.

It has a timer of up to 3 hours. When the timer is done, the heater stops working. Sometimes before sleeping, I set it for an hour or two and don't have to worry about it heating up all night. It's not bad for the money. I'm thinking about getting another one for another room.

Update on 12/12: Five days ago I wrote this favorable review. It must have been a jinx, as all of a sudden last night the heater just stopped working, like one of the other reviewers experienced. The on off switch turns back and forth with no resistance like it used to have. I think the on/off switch is shot. No power. I am thinking about replacing it with this same model, since it lasted 3 years. I still recommend the heater. But the on/off switch just stopping working is kind of weird.

This product worked fine for a bit over a year, until suddenly the on/off switch stopped functioning. I took it apart to see if anything obvious had broken, but something inside the switch part itself died. Lakewood has 2 service locations in the US (Chicago and New York) but the shipping would be more than a new oil-filled radiator would cost.

When it worked, the timer settings and ability to adjust heat and wattage was nice. I'd give it 4 stars if it were still working.

You would think for a heater so big and so heavy and with a 1500 watt power rating that it would produce a lot of heat. But you would be wrong to think that with this heater.

I got one to heat a drafty bedroom and found that the heat it produced was much less than the noisier space heaters that have fans, and worse, the heater lasted about only two to three weeks before it cut itself off and would not come back on again. I tried the reset button and still no joy; it was a dead piece of junk. We tried another one and that, too, didn't last very long. This is not to say that oil filled heaters are no good: we have a Holmes heater that has worked incredibly well for over four years, but I would advise staying away from these units unless they have been drastically improved upon since I last bought one. I gave it one star because I couldn't give them any less, and they really deserve no stars.
