5.0 out of 5 stars Lakota Winds...
I enjoyed reading this novel. Janelle Taylor writes historical romance with heart and soul, and it shows through. "Lakota Winds" is a heartwarming story about two people with broken hearts that unite to save their people and learn to trust each other and trust in their love to heal all wounds. Wind Dancer and Chumani were interesting and believable characters. Janelle...

3.0 out of 5 stars Average at best.
I found this to be one of the author's more average to slightly below average books. Since Janelle started writing contemporaries, etc. instead of just historicals, I find that her historicals are lacking in the genius that much of her earlier books had. "Kiss the Night Wind" and "Chase the Wind" were fabulous books, but "Lakota Winds" is...

Janelle Taylor has done a wonderful job in developing the characters in the story with a good plot line. Ms. Taylor was able to hold my interest throughout the entire novel with the growing love story between the characters and their cause. Everytime I read an Indian romance, I have a new respect for the Native American people. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Janelle Taylor and Indian Romance!

3.0 out of 5 stars Average at best., June 22, 2002
This review is from: Lakota Winds (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this to be one of the author's more average to slightly below average books. Since Janelle started writing contemporaries, etc. instead of just historicals, I find that her historicals are lacking in the genius that much of her earlier books had. "Kiss the Night Wind" and "Chase the Wind" were fabulous books, but "Lakota Winds" is not nearly as good. I couldn't get nto the characters, as much as I have in many of her other books. Alisha, Grey Eagle, Rebecca, and Bright Arrow among others in the "Savage Ecstasy" series were characters that I fell in love with and were like friends or family. I do though look forward to "Lakota Dawn" and also to reading the others in this series. That is if she continues with it. According to her newsletter; her publisher has postponed them for another couple years and instead have her focus on contemporaries. I'm glad there are so many other great authors, who write of this time period. If you like this type of book, try Rosanna Bittner. She's fabulous. Georgina Gentry and Connie Mason also weave excellent yarns of this same time period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lakota Series, April 28, 2000
By A Customer
I have read many of Janelle Taylor's other books. I enjoyed reading about the Indian tribes. Her books regarding the Lakota tribe is very interesting. I am hooked on reading about Wind Dancer and his family and friends. Lakota Dawn and Winds kepted me on the edge of my seat. I could not put the books down. I have recommended them to many of my friends. I can not wait until she publishes the next book in the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janelle Taylor is the greatest!!!, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
I just finished this book. I have read quite a few of Ms. Taylor's books and loved them all. I love the way she draws you into the day-to-day lives of the Indians she writes about. I strongly urge anybody who loves reading about the Indian way of life and their different Ceremonial Rituals to read the books that this wonderful lady writes. I love her books and can't wait to read the rest in the Lakota Skies series. :o)

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm too bored to finish it., January 23, 2004

I almost NEVER fail to finish a book, even when I'm not thrilled with it. But I just can't read another word of Lakota Winds. I've managed to get to page 195, and I give up. The characters are flat and uninteresting. There is no excitement to the story line at all. Whenever a scene comes up that has the potential for being exciting, the author glosses over it with an easy solution. Everything about the story is typical. You can guess what will happen next, and it does. Sappy line after sappy line, you can't help but roll your eyes at the way the author writes the dialogue.

The one character who could have been great, the heroine Chumani, is destroyed at the very beginning of the story. She was a warrior woman, but is quickly married to a warrior from another tribe and she spends the rest of the book gathering fire wood and sewing. Blah! I can't take any more.
