Beautiful...,
By John "johnaw3_84" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lalo: Symphonie espagnole/ Saint-Saens: Violin Concerto No. 3 (Audio CD)
I just recently went to a concert and heard Chee-Yun play the Sibelius Violin Concerto. I was amazed at her tone and technique. She was autographing CDs at the intermission, so I bought this CD and had it autographed because I love Symphonie Espagnole and I had heard that Chee-Yun's SE was great. Well, it was great. I also have a CD with Ruggerio Ricci's SE and I thought that Chee-Yun's was better. She played the piece with almost the same speed as Ricci, yet she still kept the sweet tone that I think Ricci sometimes sacrifices. Her Saint-Saens No. 3 was also very good. I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves beautiful violin pieces.

Enjoyable performances of well known pieces,
This review is from: Lalo: Symphonie espagnole/ Saint-Saens: Violin Concerto No. 3 (Audio CD)
These two compositions are well known even to casual acquaintances of the violin literature, but Chee-Yun gives very satisfying performances. Technical polish but sweet and sentsitive musicianship. At the moment it's been getting a lot of time in my CD rotation, and I never tire of the performances.
Of course the Franceso Ruggeri violin doesn't hurt... Haha, just kidding...
