4.0 out of 5 stars A fun toy, but poorly designed
Our daughter actually likes this toy more than a similar plastic one that we have but it has some drawbacks. The "pole" is rather limp and collapses if you don't put the ring on with the hole exactly lined up with the pole. 2.0 out of 5 stars Does this toy stack up?
Although the toy is durable and very colorful the wonderful soft construction is actually a drawback .Very young children may have trouble moving the fabric against fabric to slide the rings on-w3hich is the whole purpose. The tried and true plastic version may be a better buy.

Our daughter actually likes this toy more than a similar plastic one that we have but it has some drawbacks. The "pole" is rather limp and collapses if you don't put the ring on with the hole exactly lined up with the pole. When she was younger, I had to hold the pole as she placed the rings on to keep it from bending. If I didn't, the pole would bend and she would get frustrated. As she got a little older, she figured out how to do this on her own. The other negative is that the rings fit very snuggly, making it more difficult for a young toddler to get them on and off. I have no regrets in buying this toy and it gets a lot of use, I just wish they had designed it better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Soft Rings Have Many Possibilities, November 28, 1999

I bought these stacking rings for my daughter when she was 6 months old. I liked the bright colors, and the fact that the toy is completely soft (it has cushioned many a fall). Each ring makes a different sound; the best is the red ring because it squeaks. Unfortunatly, she doesn't really play with the toy by herself (she is now 9 months old). She will play with the individual rings if I'm with her to help her get them off the spindle, but she's not interested in stacking them. I'm hoping she will learn to stack the rings herself as she gets a little older.

We bought this for my son when he was 6 months old. At first, he just liked the various colors and shapes. As he got older, he began to play with each ring - they all have a unique noise such as a rattle or a squeak. When he turned 9 months he started stacking the rings on the main rod. I think this is a fabulous toy because it grows with the child and helps teach them coordination. My son is still not bored of this toy and he is a year old. END

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TOY BUT KEEP OUT OF THE TOY BOX:, March 6, 2000

THIS TOY IS GREAT WITH IT'S COLORS AND NOISES THAT EACH RING MAKES. WHAT I REALLY LIKE IS THAT THE BASE IS ALL ONE SIZE SO THE CHILD CAN PLACE ANY RING ON AND THEY ALL STACK UP NO MATTER WHAT THE ORDER. WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE TOY IS THAT THE BASE CAN EASILY GET BENT. AND SOMETIMES MY DAUGHTER HAS A HARD TIME GETTING THE RINGS ON BECUASE IT BENDS SO EASILY.

2.0 out of 5 stars Plastic version is better, February 20, 2000

To my dismay, my nephew preferred the plastic version, which he can chew and take in the bath. The pretty designs have more appeal to adults. My high durability rating is based on the dog's use rather than the baby's use! If you want to spend money on a Lamaze toy, I suggest you pick another one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Attractive, Safe, But Could Be More Stimulating, December 2, 1998

My infant likes the rings, but the noises each one makes is too muted or hard to activate for her to keep-up interest. It would also have been even more clever if there was some visual or auditory reward when each ring is placed on to the spindel itself. Otherwise, the only way the baby builds up an interest to try placing the rings on the spindel is by having me demonstrate it over and over and over again and then coaxing her to try it. Nevertheless, I would recommend this toy because it is both attractive and safe, and does allow for some fun interaction. END

My son has yet to develop an interest in the rings. He is more interested in the stick instead, and has been biting on it. We are hoping that as our 6-month old baby grows older, he will play and learn more from these stacking rings.

We've had this set of stacking rings since our now 2 year old daughter was an infant and it has provided lots of entertainment. It's nice and soft but has held up well; it makes little noises that have kept her curious; now that she can easily stack them, she's found lots of other uses for the rings, including putting one on each hand and foot and dancing around the house making music! Overall, we highly recommend this as well as other Lamaze toys.

All the reviews talk about the sounds the toy makes and my daghters just rattles and crinkles. Actually only one crinkles and the rest rattle. Nevertheless this toy is OK. It is soft and small so it doesn't take up much room and it doesn't hurt if you step on it! Other than that there is nothing to say about it, it's nothing special.
