Well our baby likes it. He likes looking at it and listening to it. The problem is that it isn't reliable (and we have changed the batteries several times just to make sure).

The sound activation only works once, then we have to turn it off and on to get it started again.

It doesn't run for the set amount of minutes. Sometimes it runs for 5, sometimes for 40 minutes. And once in a while tha machine completely stops, starts and stops again whilst making clicking noises.

Overall it is quite cheaply made and very annoying that you need a screwdriver to change batteries and to put it on the floor as a toy.

And finally the sound of the machine itself is loud and annoying to us adults.

Pro's
- Strap to attach is brilliant, no matter the size of the crib this thing fits. I even attached it to the front of the headrest during a long road trip. We have a crib with thick molding and found it almost impossible to attach a traditional mobile or the Vtech - Soothe & Surprise Nature Light that someone bought us.
- My daughter LOVES it. She loves the continuous mode and the spin and play mode. It also helped her learn to reach and grab (she is developmentally behind physically)
- The back can be removed to turn it into a toy. This is a great toy to use during her physical therapy. She loves to grab the fish and spin it around.

Con's
- the motor is a little noisy, but we, including my daughter, don't mind it
- batteries die pretty quick(we have found this to be true for most all her batteries operated toys), especially when you use it every night. Now that we use it only 1-2 times per week, we don't change the batteries that often.
- The timer and sensor worked great at first, now not so much.

Honestly the most annoying thing is the battery life, but hey I think that batteries are just a part of raising a kid these days. Batteries are now our #1 shower gift. Duracell even sells a pack of batteries that comes with a mini screw driver. We keep the screwdriver in my daughter's room with her first aid/medical stuff and grandma sends batteries with any care package :)

I was so excited when I ordered this for my baby. It plays 40 minutes of music and it is supposed to be cry activated. When my baby cries, you CAN'T miss it! My baby has a seriously strong set of lungs. With that said, even on the most sensitive setting, this thing will NOT turn on to crying! I even tried "crying" like my baby would, right next to the thing, and nothing! I am so disappointed. I called Lamaze/Learning Curve customer service about this issue and they really could not help unless I paid to have the item shipped back to them for a replacement (which I won't because it's fairly heavy and shipping is expensive - going to avoid buying Lamaze products from now on). If you're buying this product for this feature, don't rely on it working! It also has a pretty loud motor, though that doesn't bother me as much, personally. Batteries last roughly five 40-minute plays, we went through one set of batteries in 36 hours. Overall, not the best purchase I've made.

UPDATE: Characters stopped spinning completely after two weeks of use. Since I'd just changed the batteries the previous day (the unit required daily battery changes) I thought they may have died again and put in fresh batteries. This did not fix the problem. Luckily Amazon took this item back for a refund, it was so horrible I don't want a replacement.

My 5 month old loves this crib carousel! She watches the fish go round and round and loves the music on the sleep setting. The play setting is great too when I just want her to be occupied for a few minutes. LOVE that I can set the music on the sleep setting for 40 minutes! Only drawback is I wish I could turn the light off at night. The light stays on with the music and it's kinda bright for her. The motor sound that other people talked about, I noticed, but it doesn't bother us at all.

I got this for my 8 month old, who previously had no soother or lights to fall asleep with. I was hoping it would help calm her when she woke up in the middle of the night, but we couldn't use it. It distracted her when she was trying to fall asleep, and she just pulled on the fish. I guess it was too much of a change. I think it would be good for younger babies who are not used to a particular sleep environment.

Also, it would sometimes catch and make a loud clicking sound.

I got this for my 1 year old for Christmas hoping he'd play a little in his crib after waking in the morning. It also has a timer that you can set and it will light up, spin, and play music for a given amount of time. This is a nice feature, however the motor that spins it is pretty loud and it freaked my little guy out. Given the price you'd expect a little higher quality. The only setting we use is the one that is activated by the baby. He will play with it every once and a while, but doesn't seem that impressed with it. The music it plays is very nice and the volume can be adjusted.

I recently bought this toy and my daughter loves it. It's a great crib soother, easily attaches directly to the side of convertible cribs. It can also be used off the crib during floor playtime. An awesome feature that I found in this toy is that it's cry-activated - it automatically turns on when the baby starts crying and helps her go right back to sleep.

Every time our baby starts crying the Carousel swings into action and she stops. We have to get up to her at night half as much as before. totally worth it!

We were shopping crib mobiles for my son. We don't like Fisher due to the quality of plastic. We don't like TinyLove due to the color is not colorful and inspired (our friend's son love Classic mobile by TinyLove) My son loves Lamaze Peacock and Freddie very much so we want to give this mobile a try. The music is smooth. The quality is nice. The light is good but the noise of mobile is a little loud for parents. My baby doesn't seem to care the noise too much. He is not crazy about this mobile but he'll watch the light and fall asleep by himeself sometimes. You can attach it to the crib easily. You can find the rechargable battery for the size, which saves you some money. Except the noise concern, this is a very nice crib mobile we like.

We had a Fisher Price Crib Aquarium, which our daughter would accidentally turn on in the middle of the night. Also, it didn't have an adjustable timer like this crib toy. Plus, it can be used on the floor as a normal toy too! A huge bonus is how easy it is to install onto the crib. Where other products are a huge pain, this is simple, robust and safe.
