Product Description

Editorial Review

This big, colorful mirror attaches to the crib railing, either at baby's eye level or above the bumper, to give baby a terrific view of her own fascinating face. The durable plastic mirror is surrounded by a soft-fabric frame that has bright, high-contrast patterns designed to stimulate visual development. To help enhance fine motor skills there is a fish on the left side that can slide up and down and a sea horse on the right that has a curly tail just waiting to be pulled and stretched. At the bottom of the mirror is a clam shape filled with crinkly paper that plays peekaboo with the smiling pearl underneath it. The fabric frame is secured with Velcro, but can be removed for surface washing. --Pam Lauer

5.0 out of 5 stars I actually have the "First Mirror Phase I," but . . ., July 17, 2002

I actually have Lamaze's "first mirror, phase I" which comes with a triangle base so your baby can look in it while on the floor. I never found the base useful--the angle isn't low enough for the baby on his tummy anyway. The mirror is, however, an EXCELLENT crib toy which I strongly recommend for any newborn. I attached it to the side of my son's crib, and for his first four months he gave that mirror alot of attention. It even helped him "self-settle" and put himself to sleep. He would gaze intently and even talk to himself. Very cute. I am putting this review in for the "fishy fun" mirror because it looks like a slightly better product. It has little pieces to move, which would be great for my son now that he is 5 months, grabbing and manipulating everything. But unfortunately, I have the regular mirror which he is now paying less and less attention too . . . Oh well!!

My son got this mirror as a gift. It's great all except my 5 month old is so strong and grabs/pulls everything. The fish on the side is only sewn on by two small tabs. My son pulled hard enough to break one of the tabs. If I didn't see it hanging there, one more yank and it would have gone in his mouth. That fish is only about 1" wide.

My baby is almost three weeks old and she has loved this almost from the start. She can entertain herself and stare at this quietly for at least a 1/2 hour at a time...It fascinates her.
