I just saw Cordero open for the Indigo Girls, and they were awesome! Although I don't speak Spanish, they music has a lot of energy that had everyone dancing.
I am anxious to hear more from them.
Ani Cordero is a very talented and versitile musician.

Cordero the perfect blend of Latin flair and indie rock. The sound is pure - vocals and instruments, lacking much of the electronic mixing and overdubbing that is prominent in music today, but keeping hold of a raw power that is maintained throughout every track. A very strong showing for this band, and an album that has already seen a lot of mileage in my CD player.

5.0 out of 5 stars Latin with a difference, March 2, 2009

"Vamos Nenas" was included with one of my earlier PCs as a sample of music for a now defunct--and definitely missed--media player. The live version was exciting and dynamic and it enticed me to find more by this band out of Chicago. Eventually I found this album and its successor, "Somos Cordero." The difference between the live version of "Vamos Nenas" and the studio version is very noticeable. It's not that there is any noticeable difference in the length or words, but rather the electricity that the band has with the audience is so much "there." I'd love to have seen this band playing live.

The album has many songs in Spanish, but it doesn't feel at all like any of the Latin albums by Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Thalia, Ricky Martin and so on. It seems more like a true fusion of Latin and Anglo, interesting, familiar and exotic all at once.

"Vamos Nenas" is still my favorite from the two albums, but I enjoy listening to all the songs.

Oh, one thing about the album title: The lead singer and organizer of the band is Ani Cordero. "Cordero" translates from Spanish "lamb." I love the pun!

5.0 out of 5 stars A new Fan!, March 14, 2003
This review is from: Lamb Lost in the City (Audio CD)
I was fortunate enough to see Cordero live as they opened for Los Lobos in Philly. I bought the CD right after the set! The live performance was wonderful, and the CD has not disppointed.
I'm a new (non Spanish speaking) fan! Highly reccommended!

I found this CD after seeing an illustration in The New Yorker promoting their upcoming concert there and decided, "What the heck." This is a fantastic CD. Uneven, yes (the English language songs are too "deep" for me). Gratifying, most certainly. I am a huge R.E.M., Sleater-Kinnery, Bruce Springsteen fan. This music is harmonic, different, memorable, fun, interesting -- and just damn good. I've bought all the "Best of 2002..." CDs listed by the critics. This surpasses Beck, and ranks up there with Elvis Costello's 2002 CD, and rivals Wilco on my chart of #1s. Try this band. I'm interested in what they do next.
