Book Description

10 and up5 and up

Kidnapped.
Injected with a shrinking formula.
Held prisoner in a bizarre dollhouse.

Kyle Wilson, once a regular kid, is now the size of a doll, but still alive. He is the fourth Lambkin in crazy Mrs. Shepherd's collection. She'll keep them safe, she says. She loves them like her own children, she says. She would never harm them ... as long as they don't make her angry.

John made her angry.

Look what happened to him.

One thing is certain. Kyle and the others must figure out how to escape, and fast. Otherwise they'll end up as Lambkins forever ... or worse.

From Booklist

Gr. 7-10. Returning from a gallery where his paintings are on display, high-school student Kyle stops to help a woman with a flat tire. As he reaches for the jack, he finds himself stuffed into the trunk and injected with some sort of formula. He wakes up to discover that he is the size of a Coke bottle and trapped in a dollhouse with three other shrunken kids and a shrunken dog, all prisoners of the demented Mrs. Shepherd. Usually, tales of human shrinkage are played for laughs, but Bunting explores the horror of Kyle's situation, placing a delicious villain at the center of her story. Mrs. Shepherd is a temperamental monster, who treats the children as cozy playthings and becomes sadistic when they dare to cross her. Much of the action involves Kyle's efforts to escape, until he finally hatches a plan that works. Nightmarish at times, but fun, too. Todd Morning

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Is Great!, February 6, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Lambkins (Paperback)
In my opinion, "The Lambkins" is a great book! I would recomend this book for anyone to read. It is an adventureous and wonderful book. The first few pages are interesting. You don't need to read the first and second chapter to see if its what your looking for. The author has a great imagination and ideas to make a book like this. When you start to read this book you'll not want to stop. Its not one of the books where you say "why bother reading this book I'm wasteing my time." This book will probably interest anyone who reads it. So have a great time and read "The Lambkins."

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lambkins rule!!, October 27, 2005
This review is from: The Lambkins (Library Binding)
It's been a while since I was totally drawn into a book, but this one had me right there in the doll house with them. The characters are well rounded, the plot is great and Mrs. Sheperd's totally looney! I loved it down to the very end, when I sat on the tip of my seat, heart pounding. Great read, highly recommend to kids or adults.
