I bought this machine for making a slab cherry kitchen (3/4 MDF veneered fronts with 1/8" thick solid cherry edging, glued and clamped, then planed flush with the veneered panels). The conical cutter head, optional edge guide, and incredibly precise depth setting guarantees perfection with every cut. Forget the Hoffman, get this one. For shelf nosings and such, it will plane a 1" hard maple nosing that's 1/8 proud of the panel to glass smooth in one pass with no tearout (assuming a reasonably fresh blade). Very impressive.

Do lots of ply/solid wood edge cab doors & hardwood edged/laminate desk & counter tops - wouldn't be without this tool. You have to plane your edging to consistant thickness. Perfect edges - people rub hands over edge & ask how I did that - just the right tool. Be sure to get the optional fence.

Lamello is expensive, but generally worth it. I have a custom cabinetry business and spending $ 1500 on a specialty tool is a lot, but
I had a project that had 5 to 600 linear feet of solid edge trimming . After minimal set up, it performed perfectly with no tear out, and
the finish left , saved me countless hour of sanding time. So I highly recommend it if you are a business, but not worth it for hobbyists.
