1.0 out of 5 stars Out of touch with the Market!, August 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
No stars... from the downright dreadful photographs to the out of touch prices, Ms Lindenbergers book is a real disapointment. Being one of the top collectors/dealers of modern lighting in the U.S I was appauled at the lack of effort that was put into this book. None of the better examples of 50's & 60's lighting were represented.Prices ran from Over priced junk lamps to under valued masterpeices. Ms Lindenberger doesn't even attempt to give the reader any information on the comapnies that produced these lamps or the designers who created them. Instead we are left with dark, blurry, photographs and a horrible pre computer era layout. As in most of Ms Lindenbergers books, she is dreadfuly off the mark with her prices. To get a true feel for lamps of the 50's & 60's please try and locate the wonderful "Turned On" lamps of the 50's book by Leyland & Crystal Payton. A colorful and informative guide to modern era lamps. And they don't embarrass themselves with out of touch prices. Ms Lindenbergers lack of effort is a real dissapointment, Turning out collectors price guides like sausages. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

1.0 out of 5 stars dont be duped by the cover photo!!, May 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
what a jip. the cover shot has these cool looking lamps and all but once you open the rest of the book it turns out to be a blurry mess. does this publishing company have a computer? Hello is anybody in there? some of the worst lamps i have ever seen are represented in this book.mrs lindenberger should at least do some research on the prices these lamps regularly sell for. perhaps by checking on eBAY. come to think of it between Ms. Lindenberger and schiffer publishing they have put out more trash price guides than singer made sewing machines.Dont Judge a book by it's cover is definately appropriate in this case.

1.0 out of 5 stars As with all Lindenberger"s "works" - Absolutely Dreadful!, February 7, 1999
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
This is typical of the work (or lack thereof) of Jan Lindenberger. Lousy pics, little or no product or maker information and completely off base pricing "guide". Don't waste your money on ANY of this "authors" titles if you want accurate information. Shame on you, Ms. Lindenberger and Schiffer Publishing for cranking out this low caliber garbage.

3.0 out of 5 stars far-out, funky lamps!, March 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
although some of the pictures are not the best, I personaly enjoyed looking at all the quirky lamps. (there are some really outa-this-world looking lamps in this book.) If you want to see some really over the top lamps, check out this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I AGREE WITH TUCSON, AZ, December 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
I AGREE WITH TUCSON, AZ IN THAT THIS IS A NEAT LITTLE REFERENCE BOOK IF YOU LIKE COLLECTING GREAT FUNKY, VINTAGE LAMPS. IT WAS THE FIRST LAMP BOOK I COULD FIND WHEN I STARTED COLLECTING AND THOUGH THE BOOK VALUE PRICES ARE VERY LOW FOR TODAY'S CURRENT MARKET, I WAS ABLE TO GET A "ROUGH" ESTIMATE ON WHAT MINE WERE WORTH. A LITTLE HISTORY BEHIND EACH LAMP WOULD BE NICE, AND THIS BOOK COULD USE A PRICE UPDATING AND SOME CLEARER PICTURES, BUT OVERALL, IF YOU CAN FIND A USED COPY CHEAP, IT IS WORTH HAVING.

3.0 out of 5 stars Out of date but good for first lamp book!, January 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Lamps of the 50s & 60s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
This was released in 1997, before Ebay and the lamp craze of the 50's and 60's hit its resurgance. It was the very first lamp book I purchased, and the only one with 'funky' lamps that I could find at the time. I found it to be very enjoyable, and a great reference to help me start my vintage lamp - collecting hobby. Though the pictures are a little blurry, and the prices very low, keep in mind that the market is constantly going up, and some are VERY collectible now, bringing in top dollars. If you can find a nice used copy of this book, buy it!
