5.0 out of 5 stars Hooray for Modern Technology!
I had planned on having an electrician hard wire a switch to the pull string light in my closet until I found this product. It saved me a lot of money on the installation and works beautifully

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I ordered two of these units. The first one that I installed didn't work. The battery that came with this unit was dead. I replaced the battery but it still didn't work. I uninstalled the first unit and installed the second. The battery with the second unit was also dead. I replaced the battery and it works, but not every time you press the switch. The switchplate...

The switchplate also serves as the switch as it bends to press on the activation button. When it's pressed it sometimes doesn't work right away. All in all the switch sending unit seems flimsy. The light socket receiving unit appears to be adequate. Good idea; but, it needs more work.

1.0 out of 5 stars lamson wireless light socket switch, August 15, 2007
This review is from: Lamson Wireless Light Socket Switch #HW2165D (Tools & Home Improvement)
This switch works about one or two times in five tries.
I'd send it back but because of the hassle and the fact
that the next one might be the same I won't bother.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lamson Wireless Light Socket Switch #HW2165D (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased two of these wireless light sockets, one of them quit working after about 30 minutes. The other one seems to be fine and has been working for a month now. The defective socket was returned to the manufacturer for a replacement but haven't heard back yet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good long term solution, November 21, 2010

Bought one of these for a hall light. Switch did not always work or had to be push in just the right way for the off switch to make contact. Seems the mold for the button was not landing in the right place. Good quick fix but after not being able to shut off light I am going to invest in a better solution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Had it for a while / works fine with CFL bulb, August 22, 2008
This review is from: Lamson Wireless Light Socket Switch #HW2165D (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had this product installed in a closet that formerly had only a pull-chain socket in the ceiling. It works great, but it took a few days to figure out how to make it work reliably. In a ceiling mounted fixture, heat from an incandescent bulb will affect the receiver and cause it to malfunction. We found this out after being able to turn the light ON, but after a few minutes, we couldn't turn the light off. Replaced the incandescent bulb with a CFL and the system has worked fine for the last three years. Sadly, the little plastic toggle lost one of it's retainers and we need a new wall switch. Overall satisfied with the product after solving the overheat issue.

Added info: Bought a replacement item through Amazon. New version of the switch has the "Decora" style faceplate instead of the toggle switch. The new switch worked with the old socket-to-bulb component. BTW, the old wall switch component received heavy use each day (maybe 20-25 on-off cycles). Although the plastic toggle broke, the battery lasted 3+ years.
