I am no expert, this is the ink that came with my Lamy pen, so I am trying it again. Currently I have Noodler's blue on my Lamy Safary, but I do feel Lamy ink was probably better on that pen, for sure more intense color, and the amount of ink for the money is nice. I am currently using this ink on my Hero 329, it has excellent flow, good performance. Just wish I could find ink this pretty in permanent.

Update July 2014: In my limited experience after a few years, having tried Lamy, Platinum, Noodler's blue & black, and Parker Superquink black inks, Lamy blue is the best behaved ink I own, both on any and all papers, and on different pens I own. Not referring to looks, but to well behaved ink. Funny part is, it performs better on my other pens, than on my Lamy Safary, go figure.

I have owned Lamy fountain pens for a number of years and use a refillable cartridge with Lamy ink. I have purchased bottles of Lamy ink in other colors and they work brilliantly. This is in a Lamy bottle but I question it's authenticity- the ink is watery and a very pale pink on the page. Very disappointing.

I expect fountain pen ink to be opaque and to stand out well on the page. This ink does not satisfy these expectations. The ink is thin and watery; in fact in the bottle the ink appears transparent. It does not stand out well on the paper and has more of an orange hue than I would expect for a red ink. I'm going to stick with Noodlers for my fountain pen inks.

The Lamy ink is pefection. Not only do I get the best ink available for my pens but the ink bottle has a roll of blotting paper attached. You can refill your pens anywhere anytime. The ink doesn't fade but if you do happen to get the ink on your hands it will come off with regular soap. I won't be buying any other ink from now on.

This is my favorite blue ink. It has great saturation and is a very pleasing tone of blue. It dries very nice and pops out on the page.

I have never had any issue with lamy ink in any of my pens. And the blotter dipsenser is a bonus.

And the best part is the price. can't beat it and I am happy with this and black lamy inks.

I would think that all inks are pretty much equal but it is not true actually. Some are too watery, some have a nicer color after drying, some are not drying well, etc...
I have a very nice Montblanc fountain pen which I forgot about with the time. It can be quite a hassle to use because fountain pens often leak, get your fingers inked up. Anyway, I exhumed it from his drawer recently because I decided to restart writing by hand as much as possible. On a side note, this needs practice and my handwriting was getting uglier by the days...
So using a nice pen would be my encouragement to write by hand but I could not find my ink anymore.
A quick search on Amazon and I chose the Lamy bottled ink after reading raving reviews.
Anyway, I have now been using this pen and ink since a few weeks and I cannot say enough how pleased I am with it.
My Montblanc fountain pen would tend to leak and it did at the beginning with this ink. Not anymore though.
As well, the pen would tend to scratch the paper and the writing was far from fluid. Not anymore...

In clear, this ink gives a very nice color, makes the writing very fluid and nice, dries well.
I do not care much for the blotting paper because I do not refill every day and when I do, I use larger pieces of paper.

In any case, five star worth!

I usually get Noodler's Ink, but since I had a Lamy Al-Star, I would gave the official ink a try.

The ink is a bright blue and writes very smoothly. It drys fairly quickly but it will run slightly if it gets wet.

The bottle has a small well at the center which allows for easily drawing out the last of the ink. And the attached blotting paper is perforated so its easy to remove the right amount. One side easily absorbs ink, the other side allows you to hold the paper without getting ink on your fingers.

I'm happy with the purchase, if Lamy had more colors that could match the selection of Noodler's I would think about purchasing them.

I'm a high school teacher that uses my Lamy fountains pens daily. The color of the Lamy green, and the packaging, are great. However, the Lamy ink seems thin in comparison to other inks that I've used. I'm not an illustrator and don't write or draw all day with my pen, which has a fine nib. I'm not an expert on inks and paper, but the Lamy ink seems to bleed through too much for my preference when using regular office paper.
