This is my first Lamy pen (was a gift) which is little uncommon considering it is pretty much their flagship pen. The brushed aluminum is very striking, and although this pen was designed in 1966, it appears updated. It is certainly hefty, and the heaviest of any of my pens. Posting the cap almost makes it too heavy, so I often write with the cap off. The problem with that is if you put the pen down it will easily roll away, possibly taking a nose dive and obliterating the the nib.

Speaking of the nib, I have the extra fine and it is incredibly smooth for an extra fine. It writes quite wet with most inks (save Pelikan) and is actually broader than you would expect (more like a fine in a European pen).

The cap snaps on two little "spring ears" rather than screws on, but this has been fine so far.

The piston filling mechanism is excellent.

Because of the weight of the pen, the slick barrel and the mechanical clip mechanism, the pen has fallen out of my shirt pocket when bending over.
