I own Lamy steel replacement nibs in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad sizes that are interchangeable among my Lamy Safari and Al-Star fountain pens as well Lamy's Vista (clear bodied) and Joy models. This review applies equally to all four of those sizes. I have used my Safari and Al-Star pens both with Lamy's blue ink refill cartridges and with a converter that I refill with Noodler's Black Waterproof ink. (Bullet proof durability on cellulose paper, but washes off plastic with water.)

The writing quality and feel of these steel compares favorably with, and often exceeds, the smoothness of other fountain pens I own that boast gold tips and cost hundreds of dollars more, Pelikans, Watermans, Montblanc and others. With Noodler's Black ink they are particularly smooth, even with Lamy's EF nib. I've enjoyed facile, free flowing writing with them on all kinds of paper. If I want to swap points, they can be slipped off any of my Lamy models in a second and put onto another just as quickly giving each of pens great versatility for writing or drawing.Since I am not into calligraphy, I have yet to try Lamy italic nibs, but see no reason why they wouldn't perform just as well as my non-italic models. Clearly these nibs are and example of highest quality German manufacturing which is rightly famous for precision and consistency. They bring great added pleasure to handwriting.

I purchased this because I didn't care for the one that came with the pen. I like this one much better than the factory one. I cannot complain at all.
