5.0 out of 5 stars 6 yr old rates this the best
We have all The Land Before Time videos, and I asked the 6 yearold critic which was the best. He said this one, without hesitation, and it is certainly the one that has been played most often. He particularly likes the songs in this one, and I think the concept of being scared (within the safety of the living room, with mum and dad nearby) is very tantalising.

2.0 out of 5 stars More like a conversation.............
I am 13 and I own 1-8 of the series. As you have seen in my other reviews, I kept saying that the 7th one was the best. That's because it is true! Sure, the first one was nice, but very intense and Cera was really stupid in the first one. I liked the song in the credits. I am glad universal had one of Dianna Ross's songs in the first one. I used to love Chomper! I still...

Each of the movies has a "message" and while it can be a bit cloying for adult viewers, they do seem to strike a chord with the kids. In this one the kids are alone facing danger, and they "learn just how hard it is to be a grown-up - and how nice it is to be a kid! - in this captivating story of hope, love and trust." (from box notes).

5.0 out of 5 stars good for the younger viewers, April 21, 2003
After the fourth edition of these "Land Before Time" videos was released, I started to wonder why they didn't just make a TV show out of it. Many people will argue that the original is best, and I would have to agree with that too, but enjoying the other videos also depends a lot on age. I agree with another reviewer in that these videos really do work well for children; with the songs and everything, I think the videos from the 2nd one on would probably be almost more enjoyable for the kids. The first one is beautiful--a true classic in animated films--but the other ones are more fun for the kids. The first one speaks to all ages, but the others are very kid-friendly. Recommended for sure if you have children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Movie!, August 6, 2007

This is one of the greatest Land Before Time Movies in the series. My daughter is two and a half and she can't get enough of this one! She wants to watch it over and over again, she just loves how it is about a little baby egg and wants the bad dinosaurs to give it back. Great movie, I recommend this to everyone!

A Kid's Review
I am 13 and I own 1-8 of the series. As you have seen in my other reviews, I kept saying that the 7th one was the best. That's because it is true! Sure, the first one was nice, but very intense and Cera was really stupid in the first one. I liked the song in the credits. I am glad universal had one of Dianna Ross's songs in the first one. I used to love Chomper! I still think he's adorable, but I don't enjoy him as much.

So, about the movie, I think this is good, but they make some of the charcters, (like Ozzie and Strut) very stupid. I think the only charcter out this whole series that had a good role, was Petrie. I wish he had better grammer though, he would be a lot cuter. I think once they made the 8th one, things started getting out of hand. I really they still plan to keep The Land Before Time Spirit alive, if not, then maybe they should let new people in with new visons, new ideas, and so on...........

I hope so much Pterano and Allie come back in the future realses. (Next to Petrie, Pterano rocked! Go Micheal York!) Okay I am done now. I would suggust if you gave a family over 8 do not buy this.

4.0 out of 5 stars pattern, but cute story, November 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this movie because my son has become obsessed with Land before Time. I got tired of watching the same 2 over and over again so I ordered about 5 different ones. Since now I have about 7 and watch them VERY frequently I have noticed a pattern with these.

First of all none of them have compared to the first which is by far my favorite for several reasons. The main reason being that it is one of the only ones where the kids get seperated from their families and they search to be with them. In EVERY other movie I own the kids run of on their on there own without their parents!!! This drives me crazy! There are great morals in most of these stories but the fact that nearly every movie they run off behind their parents back annoys me to no end. What kind of message does that send our kids??

In this one Duckies egg/brother or sister gets egg napped. They end up finding a sharp teeth egg instead (but dont worry duckies sibling is okay too). And where did they chase these egg nappers to- you got it into the mysterious beyound, without their parents AGAIN!?!?! But anyways the movie is cute- mainly because Chomper is a cute addition to the movie. I know he is another one but I have not been able to find that one- they end up on an island with sharpteeth on it, anyone know that one? The egg nappers are more annoying then funny but oh well. The kids have another adventure and learn some lessons along the way.

You are just going to love "Chomper". What a delightful little fellow despite being a baby sharptooth. How "our" little guys win over the B-I-G sharptooths is a wonderful story for all.
