Biography

The Genesis of the Seventies was a very different group from the Genesis of the Eighties and the Nineties - although not as different as some people would like to think.
Most of those who picked up on Genesis during the Eighties as their succession of hits encircled the globe had only the haziest idea of what had gone before. “In the later years there were people coming to our concerts who didn’t… Read more in Amazon's Genesis Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Do the Neurotic is the ultimate!, August 15, 2000
By
Sam Theiner (Pittsburgh, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Land of Confusion (Audio CD)
I'm not sure if it's worth [the price] to most people, but the 7-minute version of Do the Neurotic (that's 2 minutes longer than was on the vinyl 45 single!) was worth the price of the single to me. This Genesis instrumental is one of their very finest! It seems a shame that most people never hear this side of the band. DtN is a spitfire of a rocker with great playing from everyone in the band - including some of Mike's best lead playing and some of Phil's best drumming. It would seem obvious that DtN should be included in the (alledgedly) forthcoming Archives Vol. 2, but in the (not unlikely) event that Vol. 2 never sees the light of day, snap this one up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Neat thing for a fan to have., June 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Land of Confusion (Audio CD)
This CD has the single Land of Confusion (4.43 min), the Extended Version (6.55), and the songs Feeding the Fire (5.54) and Do the Neurotic (7.0). Includes lyric sheet (Do the Neurotic is an instrumental). Definately a neat thing to have if you're a Genesis fan...the casual fan probably won't appreciate as much, but the Phil-era Genesis will want to get this one, if just to say you have it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Genesis Must-have, June 10, 2004
This review is from: Land of Confusion (Audio CD)
This ranks up there with "Spot the Pigeon" as being an essential but often overlooked CD for Genesis fans. "Feeding the Fire" and "Do the Neurotic" both should have appeared on "Invisible Touch" and the former is certainly one of the best instrumentals that Genesis ever recorded. Why "The Brazilian" showed up on the album and "Do the Neurotic" did not is a mystery. The only reason I am giving this four stars instead of five is that I have never been much of a fan of "Land of Confusion." If you like that song, its a five star disc.
