Eleventyseven's a lucky number!,
By Elemenop (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: & The Land of Fake Believe (Audio CD)
Though none too groundbreaking in style and/or sound, Eleventyseven (11t7) is a pleasant and welcome addition to today's modern punky-pop genre. Spright and peppy guitars bounce off the walls, trying to keep pace with the fervent drumming on songs like "More Than A Revolution", "MySpace" and "A Stellar Sayonara", which should please fans of bands like Relient K, Bowling For Soup, Stellar Kart and of course Blink-182. Mixed among the upbeat proceedings are a couple of excellent power ballads and a pair of even softer numbers. Add to that the top-notch production quality (which is very commercial and definately 'radio-ready'), and we may in fact be looking at one of the better debuts of this year! Whether you're a Christian or not, you're sure to find some fresh and exciting songs on this, mostly secular, album that you'll be tossing onto your next mix cdr. Believe it!

SAVE THE UNICORNS!! 11t7,
This review is from: & The Land of Fake Believe (Audio CD)
I'm not actually Bryan, I'm his teenage daughter. This is a really great band. They're totally unique. I love the beats they put into their music. It's really addicting and makes you wanna dance. If you're into, say, Hawk Nelson or Stellar Kart or other pop-punk bands, then this is totally for you. I have a bunch of friends, guys and girls alike, with music interests from screamo to country to rock, and they've told me they like eleventyseven after just hearing them one time. They're a really fun band, and great in concert, too. I would check out both of their CD's. So if you're looking for a good beat, cool songs, and something just really different, then I've got one word for you: Eleventyseven

Unfortunately, this CD could have been so much better. Although the CD is filled with catchy songs, many sound like clones of the first track. True, there are some that stand out more than others, such as "More Than a Revolution," "MySpace," "Odds and Even So's," and most of all, "Reach That Far." After listening to the CD through, you can tell that this band has much more potential, it was just slightly suppressed in this album. Add a bit of originality, make the songs a bit more diverse, and don't make all the songs in the same key, and you'll probably have EleventySeven's next record. If you're a fan of this kind of pop-rock, buy it, but if you've got cash restraints, wait for the next CD. It will be better.

I like the band a lot, they are really great guys. The CD's okay... it's not going to be the best you've ever bought, but it's worth buying (especially if it's used). They're a Christian punk-ish band (though some punk bands might laugh at that notion).

My friend pays for a music download service on his computer, so while I was crashing with him I decided to give eleventyseven's ...and the land of fake believe a listen. Although they aren't highly orginal or energetic, 11t7 do craft some decent pop-punk tunes any fan of the genre can appreciate. ...and the land of fake believe is a little bit overproduced, but that's to be expected from a major label cd. If you like Blink 182 or old Relient K, you'll probably like eleventyseven.

Ok, here is a message for bands like Sugarcult, Midtown, Starting Line, NFG and the rest: STOP MAKING STUPID MINDLESS OPERA MUSIC and get back to rocking out like Allister, Bowling For Soup, MXPX, Stellar Kart, and Eleventy Seven. This group will go far with its joking, positive rocking sound. Just check out the opening track and songs like "MySpace" and you will see that these guys are not emo/screamo trash. This is a perfect mixture of a little punk, a little pop, and a lot of rock guitar. The vocals are cool also. We need to support bands like this because we have watched our beloved bands of yesterday turn into lush, mature mush. Dosen't it occur to these groups (Like Sugarcult et.al.) that every emo/opera CD they put out dosen't sell and the fans keep listening to their earlier albums that sound like Eleventy Seven? And by the way, "maturing" usually means "selling out" or "a CD full of ballads." In reading the early reviews for the upcoming Relient K disc, they too are doing just that."Maturing." No thanks, Relient K. When I hear that word, I do not buy. No matter what. Bowling for Soup has never sold out, never let their fans down. Because they have figured something out: People who buy their records ACTUALLY WANT TO HEAR BOWLING FOR SOUP!! GO FIGURE!! Eleventy Seven should go full steam ahead on their next CD, and put out another album like this one. I loved this CD so much I BOUGHT TWO!!

First off, how come it took this long to get a song about Myspace? The song is terrible like the site, but hey, at least they did a song about the site.
Eleventyseven is another one of those bands that my younger sister would love, but not a more mature person. I mean really, if you've heard one song off this album, you've heard them all. Listen to "More Than A Revolution", you've heard the album. Unless I just happened to miss a song, which is possible since I fell asleep. The whole thing screams Jonas Brothers quality, from the immature voice, from the lyrics, to a sad excuse for punk music, this album is a good one to give to your little brother. Thinking of the album for yourself? Don't bother. Note: I've heard "It's Beautiful", and it sounds like the band will take a giant leap musically in the next album. We can only hope. The album cover looks awesome anyways. |
