Book Description

November 2002
"Land of Hypocrisy" is a political, non-fiction book that covers American infrastructures from a perspective not commonly presented. The book serves as a comprehensive guide to American foreign policy and the problems the United States face within.

This 240-page book is divided into four sections:

Section 1 - "Military and Media 101" is an introduction to military activity and the formulation of public opinions. In addition to clarifying how information is distributed, this section explains basic techniques of the US military and the US strategies in foreign policy.

Section 2 - "Victims Galore" summarizes the major American foreign interventions since World War II (divided into 43 areas), examining in each case the reasons for US intervention, the actions taken, and the results.

Section 3 - "State of the Union" focuses on issues in America. Focal points include crime, the justice system, racism, healthcare, corporate corruption, and the environment.

Section 4 - "What Now?" provides a look at the potential conflicts that may soon arise out of the effects of misguided corporate and military ventures. Included in this section is a summary of September 11th related information and proposals for a better tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Problems that must be solved. Wake up America!, May 2, 2003
By
Andrea (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Land of Hypocrisy (Paperback)
It takes guts to come out with kind of stuff in a time when even those who are moderately critical of the "President" and U.S. policies are accused of being un-American traitors. The cover alone, probably scares most people off. Many people don't even know the military significance of the upside-down flag as a distress signal. The back cover might scare even more off with the gruesome pictures of three dead Iraqi children. It's pictures like these that have been blocked out of the mass media.

The pictures and information in this book might not be pretty, but it's all stuff that needs to be revealed. Regardless of where each of us stand politically, this book raises issues and reveals facts that all of us must ponder over in order to make our nation better. Reading about the death and suffering caused by certain policies really got to me, but I think the author ended the book on a positive note of hope for the future.

It's not a pretty picture. However, the foreign policy of our nation has not always been a history of being white hats. This is the easy-to-read history of foreign incursions and interference that you never learned in school. One thing is clear from this book: hypocrisy runs rampant in the foreign affairs of all nations. While the book is decidedly leftist, there is no question that much of our country's foreign policy is, in fact, driven by corporate interests.

By A Customer
This review is from: Land of Hypocrisy (Paperback)
Well, I've read Chomsky, Parenti, Zinn, etc for countless years, but until now I didn't have a book I could pass over to clueless friends with short attention spans. This book is a superb compliation of information, in an easy to read format.
