This review is from: Land Of The Lost (MP3 Download)
How can there not be a review for this album yet? I am quickly becoming a huge Michael Giacchino fan, so I was interested in this album before I even saw the movie. It is nothing short of delightful. If you are familiar with Land of the Lost, then you will expect to have music that accompanies a twisted, other-worldly dimension where nothing is as it seems. That's pretty much what you get, and it's a lot of fun. Banjos over orchestra switch to Dave Mustaine (Megadeth guitarist) guitar riffs plus choral singers just as an example. Yet, it isn't too disjointed. It all fits together for a great listen on its own. I haven't been able to stop playing it. With this score, even the action cues have a kind of power and melody that make them enjoyable to play purely as great classical music. I usually don't dig on the action cues of most film scores, but Giacchino's stuff is a rare exception for me. My favorite tracks are 4, 14, 16, 17, 18, 25, and 28. Also, the alternate versions included at the end are awesome and definitely different. Overall, a really fun score to own. I notice new things that make me smile every time I listen.
