I don't know why this awesome progressive album reminds me a lot the only CD I have from Saga: "Worlds Apart". Both albums are totally different from each other, but, somehow "From Land To Ocean" sounds like Saga. I think it is because Goran Fors sounds like Michael Sadler (or the other way).

Anyway, "From Land To Ocean" is a well constructed and a very original progressive album. I definitely give it 5 stars. All the tracks are great but, for me, the best ones are: "Three Colours" (11:32), "The Porch" (5:16), "The Price" (14:36), and, "The Ocean" (52:07). Yes, "The Ocean" is 52 minutes by itself with lots of ups and downs, and lots of spacey moments together with great guitars and drum works.

Even when the lyrics are too explicit (about how we the humans are wasting our world), and the voice is not like Mr. H (Marillion), or Neal Morse (Transatlantic), it is a very original prog album with very symphonic moments and a good balance between the synths and the guitars, and the voice really cuts in the whole concept.

After listening to it several times I can also say that some passages remind me of some of my all time progressive groups like Yes, Genesis, Rush, Marillion, and even Mike Oldfield. For example, the piano part in "The Price" reminds me a little bit of "Tubular Bells". Yes, "The Price" is a favorite of mine.

Well, in short, there is a lot of creativity in this album with almost 2 hours of very good symphonic progressive rock. I assure you that you will not be disappointed at all.

Para todos los amantes del Rock Progressivo les puedo decir que este album es una joya musical. Muchos clasifican a Galleon como un grupo Neo-Progresivo. Sin embargo, yo no comparto mucho el termino de Neo-Progresivo, ademas de que no he escuchado otros CDs de Galleon. Mi recomendacion se basa unica y exclusivamente en este album de Galleon y creo que es digno de escucharse. Es un album que tiene muchos pasajes sinfonicos y bien estructurados creando un muy buen ambiente musical en todos sus tracks. Se conjugan bien los sintetizadores con las guitarras, el piano, la batuca y la voz totalmente original sin copiar a nadie. A momentos suena con grandes influencias de Jazz-Progressivo tipo Jean-Luc Ponty de los 70's en "Liopleurodon" (5:49). Incluso "Land" (5:55) contiene un hermoso momento medieval bien desarrollado con flautas y guitarras de fondo. Perfecto!.

En resumen, si Yes, Genesis, Marillion, Transatlantic, y Flower Kings llenan tu hambre musical creo que este album de Galleon va a ser un buen platillo para tan sofiticados paladares musicales.

Sin temor a equivocarme, este album de este grupo Sueco llamado Galleon merece 5 estrellas. Totalmente recomendable.

I've only listened to this once so far, so I'm being conservative and giving From Land to Ocean four stars. Don't be surprised if I increase it to five later.

From Land to Ocean is a double disc. No surprise since the final song, The Ocean, at fifty-two minutes is longer than most single disc albums.

The music ranges from mellow progressive rock (Pendragon, Clepsydra, Iluvatar) with occasional lapses into heavier progressive metal (Riverside, Dreamscape, DGM).

At almost two hours of moody sometimes psychadelic music, this is a great acquisition for any progressive rock enthusiast.

Classic concept CD that takes the listener on a journey from land to ocean. I'm amazed at the great musicianship. The singer sounds like a cross between Sadler of Saga and Arena's latest singer. These guys were certainly Genesis freaks at one time- you can hear the influence. But, this is not a copy-cat band. They forge their own sound which is remarkable with great keys up front and interesting guitar work. Sad to see this band is often overlooked by prog fans. Prog fans need to discover this band now!
