1.0 out of 5 stars Land of Song Muffled, July 14, 2002

This review is from: Land of Song Welsh Choral Classics (Audio CD)
The quality of this audio CD is surprising poor. Well known Welsh standards by the renowned Dunvant, Morriston Orpheus, Pontardudulais, Treochy choirs, and etc. come through hideously uneven. The soaring spirit and the soul of the Rhondda Valley sound which have characterized the Welsh male choirs since The Depression have been shackled and dampened by poor recording techniques.

Suffice it to say, The Welsh Singers featured in the 1941 Oscar winning film "How Green Was My Valley" was better recorded than this 1997 offering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trully uplifting, March 20, 2005
This review is from: Land of Song Welsh Choral Classics (Audio CD)
The stirring music of this choir has more impact than many other choral recordings because it is not overwhelmed by instrumentation, such as an organ. The choice of songs will please many. Highly recommended.
