I am SO excited to have found this book. It covers nearly all of the topics that I was already covering in my class, but in a much more accessible manner than the resources I was using. I actually think that this book is very good for planning students because it (like the title says) gives you the practical applications of the law and discusses how processes like zoning work in the real world. Topics include zoning, the local land use approval process, review of land use decisions, subdivison regulations, affordable housing, environmental land use regulation, and more. The only criticism of the book that I have at present is it seems to be light on the takings issue.

Also, if you are a student looking for a land use law or planning law book that is written in english and not legalese, this is for you. A bit pricy, but worth it.
