Enjoy the convenience of touch-typing and rapidly entering text into your Palm application with the LandWare GoType! Pro portable keyboard. To use this keyboard, just slide your Palm V into the dock of the LandWare GoType! Pro and start typing.

The keys on the well-designed GoType! Pro keyboard are comfortable, responsive, and only slightly smaller than those of a normal keyboard. Also, unlike the keys on this keyboard's predecessor, which was made for the Palm III, these keys are placed properly for fast touch-typing. You will need a little time to get used to the narrower typing space, but the convenience of rapid data entry without an attached PC is worth the effort.

You can assign four applications to each of the GoType! Pro's six function keys for a total of 24 applications. The GoType! Pro has additional keys that are set up to execute often used commands and shortcuts.

The folding protective cover closes the unit into a compact rectangle that's ideal for travel. The GoType! Pro requires no batteries, which is both an advantage (lighter weight) and a disadvantage (greater power drain on the Palm).

The GoType! Pro has an extra serial port and comes with a cable for synchronizing directly with your desktop PC, so you won't have to take along a HotSync cradle while traveling. You can also recharge your Palm V while it's docked in the GoType! Pro.

The GoType! Pro compact portable keyboard makes a convenient, practical accessory--it's indispensable if you enter a lot of text into your Palm.

This is a great product and I cannot find one thing to complain about with Landware. They even have good customer service, as my software download problem was solved in minutes with no waiting. It's tough, light, tiny, and easy to carry around. You can type anywhere regardless of surface, on your knees even. Don't under-estimate the advantage that it has no power supply of its own, so no battery issues. No observable extra battery drain on your Palm V either. This GoType solves the shift key problem I mentioned in my GoType III review, and it improves the keystroke feel so much that it feels like a regular keyboard to me. The key layout is slightly changed and improved too, over the III. The serial port and recharge function mean that the keyboard supplies you with a second synch cradle too (although it does not come with the necessary AC adaptor, which is not available separately as far as I can tell--you have to buy a travel kit or a Palm V/Vx to get one. Go figure.)

OK, if you want your pilot to be more than a nifty gadget, you defintely have to go for this useful keyboard.

Great to write E-mails during meetings or while on the train. And it doesn't eat any remarkable power from your Palm device, so you stay mobile.

It is light, silent to type on and really the best thing after buying my Pilot. And yes, if the Wow-Effect of your Palm has surged because all of your co-workers have one, too, this one is the rebound ;-) Makes sure the attention turns to you again...

(And one additional thing: This one is one more killer for Windows CE devices, which do not have a similar cool thing as far as I know)

I just got my GoType Pro and I was very excited to check it out, but then the scariest thing happened. I installed the software, turned on the GoType on my Palm V, and then it froze! I called their tech support and they told me that I needed to reset my Palm V in order for my Palm V to function again.

NOTE: do not activate or press ON before you have placed the Palm in the cradle. This will freeze it up and you can not do anything until you reset. My rating is 3 because of the bug in the software. Other than that it is a pretty cool gadget
