The 8 kHz digital recording gives you great sound. You also get 99 messages or a total of 8 minutes of recording time.
The goVox is a self-contained unit and doesn't require the use of the organizer's serial port, memory, or batteries. Its own batteries will last up to 3 months with normal use.

Not a bad looking cover, and it RECORDS,

It looks cool and for the price it actually works quite well. Use your natural speaking voice or it will sound very distorted. It came "batteries included", which I always admire. Would I buy it again? Sure would. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? If the recording sounded clearer I would have given it a 5.

A great idea, but ...,

This add-on is a great idea: it replaces your leather-covered screen protector with an easy to use voice recorder, and adds only a few millimeters more to the thickness of the slim Palm you bought originally (in part) for its slim profile. The recorder can hear your voice even if you whisper, allowing you to give it notes without calling attention to yourself. And the package is an eye-catcher with its clear smoke plastic case showing the marvelous electronic guts. But, herein lies its achilles tendon - the plastic forms the hinge that permits it to swing out of the way when you use the Palm. The hinge has two points at which it narrows to about a 1/16 of an inch. Mine broke after about two months of careful use - I expect others will break quicker - the first time it bangs into something. I have tried to use epoxy to repair the break, but the plastic is under pressure from a spring inside the hinge that keeps the recorder closed over the Palm, and even epoxy isn't enough to make up for the weakness. So, now I have an eye-catching piece of techno-trash for that bottom desk drawer. If the inventors had only gone for less eye-candy with a metal case or at least a metal hinge, it would be a 5-star accessory. Instead, its a waste of money.

Hinge problem is major issue,

I got it - I liked it as it provides a quick way to record tasks and notes which you don't want to taken the time to log into your Palm....then, after 5 months - much like many other users - the damned hinge broke. It no longer attaches to the Palm so any advantage it had over any other voice recorder is gone. Until they make a stonger hinge - I'd recommend buying a normal digital voice recorder
