4.0 out of 5 stars Modern interpretations of an ancient voice, May 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Landing (Audio CD)
Stephen Kent is considered one of the founders of the "modern style" of didgeridoo playing. Mixing traditional and new playing techniques with innovative use of electronica and multi-track recordings, he manages to weave soundscapes that transport you to other places. Rich symphonies alternate with gripping solos. World music ? More like Out-of-this-world music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stephen Kent - 'Landing' (City of Tribes), December 5, 2009
This review is from: Landing (Audio CD)
An absolute must-own effort from the didgeridoo player of Fat Lights In A City. I knew this name sounded familiar - look at the Amazon asking price for this CD + a few of Kent's other solo titles. Mind-altering tracks include the seven-minute tribal "Mabo", the pure ambient "Anthem For The People", the brain scambler "Charm", the somewhat odd "Yekke", the nine-minute epic "Landing" and the {wonderful} new age "White Tree". Personnel: Stephen Kent - didgeridoo, tuba, sampling & arranger, fellow Lights In A Fat City member Kenneth Newby - sampling, John Loose - drums, Suru - djembe and Robyn Sean Peterson & Eda Maxym - vocals. In all honesty, 'Landing' really could be a Lights In A Fat City album. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Didgeridoo Music, August 6, 2005
This review is from: Landing (Audio CD)
I don't listen to this type of music often at all, but I can recognize it for what it is. A great didgeridoo album. If you are looking for the sound of the didgeridoo, this album is for you. Well made. Hypnotic.
