Come Back Down

Biography

Almost 2 years ago to the day, I drove a moving truck cross-country from Los Angeles. I had been on I-40 for a day when I looked at my phone to see my mom calling. I realized I had forgotten to tell my parents I was moving to New York - and I am close with my family. Fact is, I hadn’t really told anyone. I had lived in southern California my whole life, and quite loudly those last few ... Read more in Amazon's Greg Laswell Store

Editorial Reviews

Greg Laswell returns with Landline, a stunning and sonically dense collection of new songs. The album features collaborations
with a number of Greg s female indie-pop contemporaries including Sia, Ingrid Michaelson, Elizabeth Ziman (of Elizabeth and the
Catapult), and Sara Bareilles (on the album s lead single, Come Back Down ).

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets my vote for best album of 2012 June 11, 2012
By Kurt
Format:MP3 Music
I don't often write music reviews, but after seeing only ONE review of this album I had to stop everything I was doing and immediately give it the praise it deserves. I accidentally stumbled upon Greg Laswell about two years ago and he immediately became one of my favorite singer/songwriters. "Your Ghost" from his EP "Covers" occupied the #1 spot in my daily playlist for nearly a year as I excitedly explored everything else he's done, and believe me, this guy is prolific. You could spend an entire day listening to his body of work and then get frustrated trying to figure out which of the last dozen tracks you heard you enjoyed the most. Hint: it's ALL of them. Superb craftsmanship, poignant and sometimes irreverent lyrics and a voice you simply cannot keep out of your head. I would find myself literally waking up in the morning already humming the chorus of "Amazed" or "In Front of Me" in my head. I had to take a hiatus from Greg because I was getting to the point of overplaying it, and I didn't want to get burned out on his music (if that's even possible). Either way, I didn't want to find out.

Then "Landline" was released and I once again dove headlong into his music, and this time around there's even more to love. "Come Back Down" has become an anthem in our household. It's in my car mix, my office working playlist, my ringtone, my wife's playlist at work... and the louder you play the song the better it gets. The entire album is remarkably well constructed, and if you take the time to read his biography on his Amazon page you'll be delighted to discover that he's a down to earth human being, someone you'd love to buy a beer at a bar and share stories with. How often do you find that? Almost never. The fact that he married Ingrid Michaelson shows--in an ironic way--his own taste in music. Hearing them sing together in "Landline" you're immediately aware of why these two chose to merge their lives.

Greg Laswell is a rare musician indeed, and he will be a permanent part of my daily music listening experience. Buy the album, play it loud in your car at a red light and count how many people ask you "who is that?!?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular!!! May 9, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I've been a big fan of Greg Laswell for the last year... His albums are getting increasingly better each time. This latest actually sounds the most mainstream of them all and is wonderful. Four songs feature performances with other female artists and those in particular stand out. However, there might be only one song in the bunch that I don't find incredible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for mood. May 13, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love Greg Laswell and this album doesn't disappoint. My favorite track is "Come Back Down". I rated this album 4 stars instead of 5 because there aren't any other tracks that are spectacular to me besides "Come Back Down", the rest of the tracks kind of blend together into great background music.
