These gloves are great. They protect from the heat and allow to rearrange the burning wood in your fireplace with your hands. I don't think you can carry around a burning piece of wood for hours on end with the "hearthmates", but picking one up and putting it back within some 10 to 20 seconds or so is not a problem. This is what I wanted them for and this is what they do, so I am one happy camper (pun intended).

gloves are fireproof so they are ideal to use for a fireplace or outside grill. lighter weight than older ones i had so they are easier to use and handle items.

Very pleased with Hearth Gloves. I use them when grilling on my charcoal BBQ grill. They fully protect my hands in case I have to move anything that is really hot, like if I have to lift the rack up, etc. they protect really good. I think these were originally made for use at the fireplace, but they work good on the grill, also.

As expected from Amazon, the gloves arrived on time and in excellent condition. They are high quality, lined, and great for handling hot items while grilling or working with hot items around a fireplace.

I have small hands. These gloves are for large hands, yet with a pair of winter gloves on, these gloves fit right over my own gloves. Extremely reasonable price! And when my forearms hit the hot iron stove, the gloves protect me.

When it comes to working with my hearth over the winter months, I'd be lost without these gloves. They have saved me from burns more times than I care to imagine. They can really take the heat. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to a person, like me, who takes safety around the fireplace very seriously.

Looked at other reviews for this product before buying and found the good reviews to be very accurate. Glove are more orange, than red, but not a big deal to me. They work so very well. We recently installed a wood burning fireplace insert and it gets extremely hot when stoking it up and adding logs. I could not get close enough to get a log in other than to toss it in and hope for the best. These gloves allowed me to load the log and place it in a certain spot without getting burned. They go up to the elbow which is perfect for trying to feed wood in! They are high quality, well made and a great help to me.

I bought this pair at the beginning of the 2010 fire-burning season and used them to handle my hearth related duties, including occasionally repositioning a fiery log. They are a good long length and appear to be of good quality, but my experience with them was dissapointing and they did not last a season.

In January (3 months), the right glove (most used) had a large hole develop at the middle knuckle of the middle finger. This renders them "done" in my book, as I use them now only for light duty. But let me go on with what i'm unhappy about, since a small hole could be my fault or something else.

The gloves are fairly bright - now, I knew they weren't a muted color when I bought them, but on a hearth they really stand out.

The gloves smoked and smelled bad when I used them to open the bypass-damper-pull on my stove during hot use. Now, the surface of the stove is showing (per my magnetic thermometer) at 600-650 degrees. So these gloves are burning and off-gassing at those temps. That's no good in my book.

Unfortunately, these gloves are done for me and I'm now going to go spend 2-3x as much for a pair that'll last 5-10 years. But as long as they last, it'll be money well spent.

I bought these for my my husband last year. His previous gloves had duct tape covering the holes. After a year of use, they still look almost brand new. There are no holes, they're still the bright color as the day they arrived. They fit my husband's hands as well as my skinny 17 yo daughter's. The best part is they protect the forearm too, They are a great glove for a reasonable price.
