Ideal book for Christians,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Landmines in the Path of the Believer: Avoiding the Hidden Dangers (Hardcover)
In Landminds in the Path of the Believer, Dr. Charles Stanley helps the believer identify seven destructive temptations, and he gives them the hope and skills they need to get past these temptations to live an abundant and obedient life.
When you are in the midst of a spiritual battle, you soon realize that Satan will do anything he can to keep you from the Lord's will. But sometimes, the battle is not obvious. Sometimes, Satan uses landmines to keep you from reaching your destination. According to Dr. Stanley, these landmines are: 1. Pride 2. Jealousy and Envy 3. Insecurity 4. Compromise 5. Unforgiveness 6. Sexual Sin 7. Laziness Dr. Stanley takes each of these areas and teaches us how to identify, avoid, or defuse these landmines. Dr. Stanley says, "Avoiding serious trouble is not difficult, especially if you follow the routine God has giving you to travel..." This 256-page book is not really that thick, but it packs a wallop. I had to read only portions of it, then sit back and think about what I've read for a while before picking up the book to read more. This is a truly helpful book that will benefit the lives of every believer, as we all go through these landmines at some point in our lives. Some may have to navigate them more than others. I hope I learned a lot that I will be able to utilize away from the book. I think Landmines in the Path of the Believer is the ideal book for every Christian. It belongs in church libraries, pastor's bookshelves, and the end table of the lay person. I applaud Dr. Stanley for taking the time to study these out and give us the map to get th3rough the minefields. Armchair Interviews says: Landmines lurk in our everyday lives.

Dr Charles Stanley is a preacher that has VERY FEW PEERS!!
Too many preachers are involved in politics or personal wealth or desires or seeking recognition instead of simply teaching what the Bible really says. Far too many people HAVE NO CLUE of the contents of the WHOLE BIBLE and therefore live their lives in the ignorence that there is a plan for EVERY human life, even MINE and even YOURS!! A really down to earth guy anyone can understand and then accept or reject the teachings of Jesus Christ, Creator of Mankind, Savior of same to all that Believe HIM and make some attempt to follow HIS ways with HIS power and not that of ourselves. A fantastic book for the new believer, believers that thought they heard it all or those that have never believed.

Excellent,
This review is from: Landmines in the Path of the Believer: Avoiding the Hidden Dangers (Hardcover)
As always, Dr. Stanley provides us with a simple and thoughtful way to conduct our lives as Christians, in his unique vivaceous and straightforward manner. Everyone of us confront those "landmines", and landmines they are, for we don't notice them until we are faced with the damage and consequences.
I recommend it to all: those who are new to the Christian life, and those who have become confident in their faith and, precisely because of that confidence, no longer feel vulnerable to the dangers to which we are all exposed. This book is a good reminder.

We are using Landmines as a study for our women's Prayer Group. We have found the book very inspirational. We read a secton and then discuss it. It has provided very good topics for discussion. I would recommend the book for anyone wanting to deepen her Christian walk.

After listening to Dr. Stanley on the radio, I felt compelled to get this book. And needless to say, it does not disappoint. Compelling from start to finish. Whether a new believer or a lifetime Christian, this is THE book to read. Very insightful and I pray that more people, Christian and non, will take their time to read this. You won't be disappointed.
