William Neill has traveled across the United States from Maine to Hawaii in every season of the year, and no matter where he pauses in his travels his eye (through his camera lens) is able to find the beauty that too often is taken for granted by most travelers' experiences. Neill has a talent for composing images that are works of art in and of themselves, but his true talent is finding that time of light, that presence of twilight, the mystery of fog, the joy of sunrises and sunsets that imbue his subject matter with what can only be defined as the spiritual essence.
Whether Neill is capturing closeups of carpeted flowers, shadows of trees nature has aligned, or his exceptional understanding of the chemistry between land and water that he studies from the breaking of water and clouds along the seashore or the majesty of lakes surrounded by mountains and heightened by cloud-bearing sunset memories, each photograph in this auspicious book inspires awe at the beauty of nature. William Neill is much more than a photographer and artist, he is a shaman willing to help us find the perfection that quietly surrounds us if we only pause long enough to reflect. This fine book is a journey and we are fortunate to have Neill as a gentle guide. Grady Harp, June 10
Landscapes of the Spirit is an absolutely ravishing & glorious book of photography by William Neill. There is a zen-like quality to what Mr. Neill has chosen to focus on in his choice of the landscape and the light in the photos in this book. This is an experience that is: SPIRITUAL. And almost meditative in its ambiance. I saw this book offered on Amazon for a ridiculously low price, and could not believe my luck. It arrived looking brand new. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. Most highly recommended.
