It Gets the Job Done,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Langenscheidt Pocket Latin Dictionary: Latin-English, English- Latin (Langenscheidt's Pocket Dictionaries) (English and Latin Edition) (Paperback)
The Langenscheidt's Pocket Latin Dictionary delivers exactly what it promises: a handy guide to Latin vocabulary. Whether you're writing an oration for fun or simply translating homework, this dictionary will help you finish the job. One negative thing - there is no grammar section in the front or the back, which does not make this dictionary an all-encompassing Latin resource. Other than that, it's good.

This is my second or third copy of this book. I found myself in the United States without my Langenscheidts and needed to translate Latin documents, so I logged onto Amazon, and bought another one. Within a day or two I was back in business. When I was studying Latin (again) in Rome I used several small dictionaries, including the Oxford. Time after time they didn't have the word I needed, and the Langenscheidts always did. Even whole constructions are often there, right when I need them, and easy to find. It has a substantially complete vocabulary of all the main classical writers, but I find it is the best for ecclesiastical Latin too. And you can't beat the price! It really does fit in your pocket. Together with Allen and Greenough, you have everything you'll ever need.

Wow!,
This review is from: Langenscheidt Pocket Latin Dictionary: Latin-English, English- Latin (Langenscheidt's Pocket Dictionaries) (English and Latin Edition) (Paperback)
Absolutely one of the BEST Latin-English Dictionaries I've ever gotten my hands on. It's mostly for people who are studying to translate Latin into English, but there is a small section in the back with a few English words translated to Latin. All in all, even an amature could use this.

This is a wonderful quick reference dictionary. Words are easy to find and the definitions are clear. As a teacher I use this dictionary in class when I need to quickly double check the meaning of some word for my students. I like this dictionary much better than the Oxford Mini Dictionary.
