Great for learning Russian grammar,

Eventually this was the only book I needed to study Russian. Use something else to get you started; once you get a good feel for the different elements of Russian grammar, this dictionary is all you need to master it. This works because every Russian word is mapped to an appendix containing the whole of the Russian grammar--including all of the exceptions. At the time I was studying Russian (13 years ago), this was the only dictionary that did it this way, and the only one that didn't leave anything out.

Great pocket dictionary,

I gave this to a native-Russian speaking friend living in the US. This is perfect, because it has all of the basic in a handy GENUINELY POCKET SIZE. The print is also not too small, and the cover is a nice plastic which makes it durable for being carried around in your back pocket. I highly recommend it for portable applications.
