a superb text!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Language Disorders From Infancy Through Adolescence: Assessment & Intervention (Hardcover)
This book is a strong resource for any clinician dealing with language disorders. It clearly outlines intervention, assessment, different disorders etc. It covers a lot of material, but manages not to feel dense. It also provides tons of ideas for therapy... lists of children's books categorized by what therapy goal addresses (e.g. pronouns)... sample activities etc. Paul does a nice job of summarizing the current research and its implications for the clinician. I honestly don't know how I would have survived my first preschool placement without this book. Whenever I was stumped, this is where I turned. This is the type of book that you never get around to putting back on the shelf for you are always using it. Plus, as an added bonus it reads very well, more like a story than a text.

User-friendly guide for beginning clinicians,
By A Customer
This review is from: Language Disorders From Infancy Through Adolescence: Assessment & Intervention (Hardcover)
After repeatedly checking this book out from the library, I bought my own copy. I found the organization of assessment and treatment by age group to be helpful, and the wealth of non-standardized testing methods both appropriate and easy to implement. As the author says, it is designed for the beginning clinician and provides a worthwhile resource for anyone working with children. Though it does provide theoretical discussion, it is primarily a "hands-on" book. I would recommend this book as a primary text, a supplemental text, or a resource for SLPs who are updating their knowledge and practice in child language.

This has to be one of the top 5 books in the field. Dr. Paul is the most devoted of scholars, and you can tell this from the careful way in which the text is composed. Her editorial style is highly readable, and her vast knowledge and wisdom do not come across in the horrible erudite manner that so many texts do. This is a wonderful treasure for every single SLP's library.

New SLP Grad Student Will Save This Text Book!,

This review is from: Language Disorders from Infancy Through Adolescence: Assessment and Intervention, 3e (Hardcover)
The course that I will be taking this semester is language development and disorder from birth through adolescence and this book is a required text. I have already read through the book just to make sure I can keep up with the pace of the class. I am really impressed with the organization and readability. There are wonderful charts and visuals that really helped to solidify concepts. IEP sample pages are just general so be sure to look at what your state offers. There are great sample forms for you to tweak and use and the tables a color coded. So much less highlighting. I will definitely be using this book often well beyond the parameters of this course!

Great resource yet also wordy and repetitive,

This review is from: Language Disorders from Infancy Through Adolescence: Assessment and Intervention, 3e (Hardcover)
I used this book for two quarters and while I feel like it had a lot of good information it was very wordy and repetitive in the representation of this information (kind of like how I've just been wordy and repetitive...). As a result, this is a book you skim, not read thoroughly. I'll definitely keep it on my book shelf during grad school though.

I'm a practicing School Psychologist and invested in this textbook as a resource for language disorders that I was seeing in my district. Great resource on a wide variety of disorders. The language is written in a way that non-Speech Language Patho's can understand. Good work.

Great purchase,
This review is from: Language Disorders from Infancy Through Adolescence: Assessment and Intervention, 3e (Hardcover)
It was in perfect condition and was delivered well within the time period. I recommend buying this edition on here instead of at an expensive bookstore for those who need it for grad school.
