About the Author

Peter Mühlhäusler is the author of some 200 articles and books. The majority of these deal with pidgins and Creoles but, since his appointment as professor of linguistics at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, in 1992, he has increasingly published on ecolinguistics, particularly the mutual influences between language and the environment. Some of his books of note are Pidgin and Creole Linguistics, Linguistic Ecology: Language Change and Linguistic Imperialism in the Pacific, and Greenspeak.
