Pertaining to Chomsky's linguistic theory, I found this an excellent resource. Here explains Chomsky's SSC lucidly unlike another of Chomsky's books "On Language". Here even explains some interesting insights in neuronal and cognitive functions of the brain lucidly from others such as Jean-Pierre Changeux. Even though this debate might be dated, it isn't a bad read to learn something.

This book fills in some thoughts on the relationship between language and thought. Piaget identified language as the absolutely necessary ingredient for intellect. These two men are among the greatest contributors to linguistics, language learning and approaching this oeuvre of knowledge from philosophical perspective.
