Biography

Kelly Jones is a changed man. And it shows in his personal demeanour, and in the music he has been making with Stereophonics. “Part of me doesn’t really give a shit anymore,” he confesses. “The stage I am at now is very close to how I was at 21. I’ve learned how to deal with the ups and downs of being in a band, people liking you, people not liking you, how you look on a magazine cover, how… Read more in Amazon's Stereophonics Store

Editorial Reviews

Japanese edition scheduled to include bonus tracks. It might be their fifth album, but Stereophonics view Language. Sex. Violence. Other? with the same excitement as a debut record. It’s a little under two years since You Gotta Go There To Come Back, Stereophonics’ third consecutive Number One album – and the band have been busy touring America, supporting David Bowie and writing and recording. There’s a new member–Javier Weyler, who replaces Stuart Cable on drums and, a new, super-affirmative attitude. ‘This band is so positive right now,’ says Kelly. ‘We’ve made the most exciting record we possibly could.’ Indeed they have. Language. Sex. Violence. Other? is a magnificent album. Eleven tracks. All killer, no filler. The band agreed they wanted to make something that was very different from their last album. Something that captured the listener straight away, but something that also had a lot of depth. The song titles would all be one word. It would have the energy of their first album, 1997’s Word Gets Around, but it would use production tricks Stereophonics had learned along their way to becoming one of Britain’s most successful rock bands. It would be a very modern record. V2. 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait..., December 23, 2007
By
Zuke (Los Osos, CA) - See all my reviews
This long-awaited DVD was presented and produced by the Stereophonics themselves, and as a result shows some incredibly personal behind the scenes footage, both during the "Language.Sex.Violence.Other?" album development and during their 2005 world tour. I've been a fan since seeing them play in 2002 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles during their Just Enough Education to Perform tour (referred to by fans as J.E.E.P.). This DVD is basically divided up into three features, (1) the documentary, (2) the live concert, and (3) the music videos. The documentary footage of song development riffs and the jam sessions to hone the songs was awesome, as was the almost spontaneous discovery and addition of new drummer Javier Weyler.

If you have not seen the Stereophonics in concert or heard their Live from Dakota live album, you'll be happy to learn their live shows are even better than their studio albums... the same voice and sound quality with even more energy, sweat, and emotion. Many of their songs take on an entirely new quality when the tempo is sped up or slowed. For long-time fans, the slower paced live rendition of Maybe Tomorrow will give you chills with its haunting quality. My other favorite track is Just Looking, which brought even more emotion to the longing feeling of the lyrics that I hear every time I listen to the studio version.

If you are a fan, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You owe it to yourself to get this DVD and the Live from Dakota double-CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining, May 30, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This DVD is compilation of the Stereophonics music videos, many which I have never seen. The DVD starts with a short commentary by the band and then brings up the menu screen where you can choose just the video you might be most interested in viewing or an option which I really like; play the videos in chronological order ( oldest to newest ). If you like the Stereophonics you'll love this DVD.

I am so glad I got this DVD. I didn't think I could like Kelly any more than I did, but I did after watching!
