Worth the wait...,

This review is from: Stereophonics: Language, Sex, Violence, Other? (DVD)
This long-awaited DVD was presented and produced by the Stereophonics themselves, and as a result shows some incredibly personal behind the scenes footage, both during the "Language.Sex.Violence.Other?" album development and during their 2005 world tour. I've been a fan since seeing them play in 2002 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles during their Just Enough Education to Perform tour (referred to by fans as J.E.E.P.). This DVD is basically divided up into three features, (1) the documentary, (2) the live concert, and (3) the music videos. The documentary footage of song development riffs and the jam sessions to hone the songs was awesome, as was the almost spontaneous discovery and addition of new drummer Javier Weyler.
If you have not seen the Stereophonics in concert or heard their Live from Dakota live album, you'll be happy to learn their live shows are even better than their studio albums... the same voice and sound quality with even more energy, sweat, and emotion. Many of their songs take on an entirely new quality when the tempo is sped up or slowed. For long-time fans, the slower paced live rendition of Maybe Tomorrow will give you chills with its haunting quality. My other favorite track is Just Looking, which brought even more emotion to the longing feeling of the lyrics that I hear every time I listen to the studio version. If you are a fan, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You owe it to yourself to get this DVD and the Live from Dakota double-CD.

This DVD is compilation of the Stereophonics music videos, many which I have never seen. The DVD starts with a short commentary by the band and then brings up the menu screen where you can choose just the video you might be most interested in viewing or an option which I really like; play the videos in chronological order ( oldest to newest ). If you like the Stereophonics you'll love this DVD.

I am so glad I got this DVD. I didn't think I could like Kelly any more than I did, but I did after watching!

Deploying average-boy-from-street absolute mainly-men's ordinariness,
This review is from: Language. Sex. Violence. Other? (DVD)
I had never heard/seen this band and their tunes hard to remember also it left a positive impression while watching and listening to sometimes-psychotic gigs of a band unknown to.
What is really good is a sharp highlighting of a visual performing talent with performers' average-boy-from-street absolute mainly-men's ordinariness. |
