I put this in my wish list (even though I already own both it and the Five Love Languages For Children) so that everyone I know will get it and read it! It is meant not only for those in a "love" relationship, but for those in ANY kind of a relationship! This book is meant to be shared among ALL!
It's lessons would change a lot that needs changing. Imagine, knowing how to talk to that difficult person at work? Imagine getting more from your spouse, partner, teenagers, children, and yes, even other family members and friends! Imagine knowing how to show someone that you care in a way that they understand? Imagine, if you will, the perfect example of getting more with honey, than with vinegar... Now, imagine the satisfaction in your heart and mind, that you have GIVEN more to them then they have ever had? And imagine, if you can...your love tank...full as can be... I have never in my life read a more perfect book on how to get along in this world. It is based, for the most part, on spouses getting along, and such...but I have taken this book further, and observed those around me, and learned how to talk to them...and the results are unimaginable! One drawback for some: It is written by a Christian man, and every once in awhile, he talks about prayer and other such things...but religious or not...this book belongs on every shelf in the WORLD! If you can get passed those very few little remarks, you will gleen more from this book than I think the author ever imagined. And for that difficult child? The Five Love Languages for Children is perfect...written in partnership with a child psychologist, it takes the Five Love Languages and reformats it for a child's mind to grasp. Perfect for every parent to have! Let's not forget the teens in the world!! There is one for them too...The Five Love Languages of Teenagers. And for singles even!!!! The Five Love Languages for Singles. The concepts talked of in this book are immortal. I recommend it with all my heart, soul, and FULL love tank!

My wife and I read the book together about 3 years ago. We saw vividly why we were unable to communicate with each other effectively. As hard as we tried, we just weren't speaking the same language. We discovered how to communicate love to each other in a way that we both could comprehend. It wasn't that difficult, it just took a little practice. We have read literally dozens of books, saw instructional videos, and received hours and hours of marriage counseling. Most of these resources made us aware that we had a problem (well, duh) but none made much of a lasting difference in our lives. This book, The Five Love Languages, did. The change in our marriage has made such an impact in our church that we have been asked to share these principles to other married couples. I can't describe the level of satisfaction we get when "the lights go on" for someone else who comes to the same understanding that we have. Our marriage isn't perfect and never will be (this little bit of information should take some of the pressure off anyone reading this). But, now we remember why we got married and how it feels to rekindle that "In Love" experience.

I thought this book was excellent. It was very enlightening to me about my own relationship with my partner as well as with my parents and my children. I think this book would be helpful to anyone and everyone. Thank you Gary Chapman for putting the information in such easy to read and understand language.
