This review is from: Languedoc Roussillon, 2nd (Cadogan Guides) (Paperback)
Facaros and Pauls are better than any travel writer partnership that we have ever known, and we've read a lot of them. Their guides are practical, but also chock full of aesthetic advice that you will find nowhere else. They take risks in their recommendations, which are wonderfully and unpredictably erudite. Their books offer many unexpected surprises that are sprinkled amidst useful advice. I have never found travel books as useful, as quirkily intelligent, and as fun as these. They are also superlative writers in clarity of style and quirky detail.

Wherever we go in Western Europe, we seek to see if they have written a book about it. We expect fascinating observation, unusual ideas for entertainment, and genuine intellectual depth. No other travel writers accomplish this.

Highest recommendation. You will be amazed at their eloquence and delighted at the paths they suggest. This is uniquely valuable. We have even gotten to know them through our long fascination with Europe, and I have to say: they NEVER disappoint.
