Like it, but it seems historically limited.,

I bought it for someone from Lansing. I read it myself, and I wish it had more actual descriptions of the places, times, and people. As a "coffee table picture book," though, and even with its short paragraphs per photo, it seems quite effective in capturing at least a slice of the eras mentioned within. If it were for me, personally, I would have preferred something much more indepth, though, as many chapters seem to focus on sole families/clans. Yes, I understand they were important to the foundation of the area, but what about the other people? Also, was there any real diversity in Lansing at any point besides the post-1980 era? That era seems totally slighted in the book.

I stumbled upon this book several years ago and bought a copy, since I was born and raised in Lansing. The history that I remembered being told as a child was confirmed in the book and I learned much more. It was very fun to see many photographs of people I knew growing up and a few relatives. Thank you to Ms. Steinweg for her research and publishing.
