I bought this item for my 2nd time around being pregnant since I was determined to breastfeed. Most people I knew said Medela was the best pump out there, however being on a budget I couldn't afford it. I looked at the Lansinoh Double Breast Pump BPA numerous times and read amd read reviews. I finally decided to purchase it 3 weeks before I gave birth and couldnt have been happier! Once I decided to pump it worked great and it was pumped a lot of milk out. The only thing is that you may want to have someone (significant other) help you adjust the speed, it was a bit challenging to hold up the two pumps and try to adjust the speed. Also another great thing is that the milk DOES NOT pump back in the system so it makes it's easily cleaned and very sanitary which was one of my main concerns. Which I do belive other pumps do not have this feature. Overall it was a great product, well worth the money and I recommend for anyone on a budget and perhaps the 1st time breastfeeding. I look forward to using it again in the future when I have more kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good solid investment, June 4, 2009

I use this pump everyday at home and at work. It works very well and is quiet. It is also very easy to clean. For the money, it's a much better deal than some of the other pumps out there that are more expensive and harder to clean. So what if it doesn't come with it's own fancy carrying bag? Just be careful if you have pets, my cat seems to think that the silicone tubing and diaphrams are delicious! Luckily, it was still under warrenty and Lansinoh replaced the parts he ate for free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this pump!, November 23, 2009
This review is from: Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump BPA-free (Baby Product)
Let me start by saying that I researched pumps for months before ultimately deciding on this one. I am a stay at home mom, but wanted to build up a good supply of milk in my freezer for car trips, certain outings, and the very occasional babysitter. The first time that I sat down to use this I got 4 ounces in 10 minutes, and the next time I got 6 ounces in 5 minutes! It is very powerful, and I really don't see how the big name-brand pumps could be any better! This is the same pump as the Ameda, just purple and marketed under the Lansinoh name, so all the parts are interchangeable. Another note: I had a big-name single electric pump, and having to clean the tubing was such a pain! This pump is a closed system, so it is easier to clean and more hygienic than other pumps.

In short, don't waste your money on big-brand pumps! This will serve you well!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice alternative to more expensive pumps, May 28, 2010

Bought this pump for pumping at home in preperation for returning to work. I am a nurse who works with infants whose moms often pump on our unit, so I am familiar with the hospital grade pumps, but have never used one myself. This pump is designed exactly like the newer model pumps we have on our unit. Used it to pump near term while pregnant to try to stimulate labor and was able to express the same amount of colostrum as our brand new moms do. Now 2 1/2 weeks post delivery, the pump has been very effective in pumping "extra" milk.

The one thing I do not like abot the pump is that the nipple flanges only come in one size and are hard plastic and were uncomfortable in the begining. I was used to the soft flanges in multiple sizes that came with my old, cheap pump from several years ago. The flange size was appropriate for me, but may not fit everyone.

HELPFUL HINT straight from the lactation consultant: Start the pumping on the short, fast cycle on low suction until letdown. Once letdown has occured, change the settings to the slower, longer cycles and slightly increse the suction setting. This imitates the infants feeding pattern.

It worked fine the first time I use it, then it mysteriously lost suction power gradually over a two week period. I attributed it to washing some parts in the dishwasher and gave it a low rating. However, upon closer inspection I discovered the problem was this tiny plastic part which connects the suction tubes to the base--it had a crack in it that grew larger until it snapped apart completely. I contacted the company which sent me a replacement part free of charge, and now everything has been working fine ever since (3 months and counting of daily use). Because it was a lot cheaper than some others, and I use it quite a bit, which includes lugging it around when I work, I have changed my initial review and am now recommending this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great breast pump!, February 3, 2010

I have been using the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump for almost 9 months now. I work full time and use this pump twice a day at work. I am a teacher and have to pump in the bathroom so I use batteries to power this pump. The batteries usually last me about three weeks on average, and I keep the AC adapter with me as backup. There isn't an outlet in the bathroom for me to plug into so on the few occasions the batteries have died I have used the AC adapter in my classroom. I wasn't sure how long I would last pumping but I have had a great experience with this pump. On average I am able to get about 10 ounces a day (pumping twice). When my daughter was younger I was able to get about 14 ounces pumping twice a day. I think this pump is a great value and reccommend it to all my friends who are expecting!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just about OK for the money--but doesn't compare with the Medela PISA, April 13, 2010
By

Some background:
Bought the Lansinoh Double Electric in November 2009.
Used it till January 2010.
Currently using the Medela PISA (since January 2010).

I thought I had done extensive research before buying a breast pump, and a few reviews favorably compared the Lansinoh with the Medela Pump in Style. I remember reading a review that said that the Lansinoh was just a 'little' slower. I used my Lansinoh for about two months, and was pumping till my breasts ran dry. It used to take me over an HOUR to do so (and I did this about 4-5 times a day). Needless to say, I was not particularly happy with the time spent pumping (time when I could have caught up on some sleep considering I began using the Lansinoh about a week after my son was born).

For quite a while I thought I must have very poor milk supply with very slow let down. Hence I continued with my pumping schedule very diligently. However, once I got back to work, it became very difficult trying to find time to pump. I finally caved in a bought the Medela PISA. I was very skeptical on the decision since I didn't want to end up with a more expensive pump but still be stuck pumping so long (since I thought the problem was with my let down). Anyway, I am SO glad I bought the Medela PISA. I was able to completely drain my breasts in 10-15 minutes!!! I have been using the PISA for the last two and a half months, and am so much happier. I am able to continue giving my son breast milk; he is almost six months old now, and I am hoping to pump till he is one--I seriously doubt if I would have been able to pump with the Lansinoh while working.

Also, this is not really such a big deal, but the Lansinoh bottle markings get rubbed off pretty soon. And thats tough if you use the bottle markings as a guide to measure how much you have pumped (The Medela bottles have not had this problem).

In my opinion, the Lansinoh might be alright if you plan on being an occasional pumper; however if you plan to pump regularly and/or need to pump at work, then the Lansinoh might not be your best bet. While it is much cheaper than the Medela (almost a third of the price), having used the Lansinoh and the Medela, I can confidently say that you get what you pay for! I just wish I hadn't sunk money on the Lansinoh, and had gone with the Medela right from the beginning...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome pump, awesome customer service!, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump BPA-free (Baby Product)
As a first time mom who works full time and is committed to breastfeeding for a full year, I knew I needed a pump that would work efficiently. I couldn't afford the Medela that everyone says is the best, so thought based on reviews this pump would do the trick. It has not disappointed. It's small and easy to transport back and forth from work to home, and it works very well. Recently, the motor died and not only did they fix and return the pump quickly, they also reimbursed me the cost of the rental I needed while waiting for mine to be fixed. On top of that they sent me some extra freebies for the inconvenience--storage bags, diaper cream, wipes. The rental I used was a Medela and now I can say that the Lansinoh not only stands up to the Medela, it exceeds it. The Medela was clunky and heavy and MILK ALWAYS GOT IN THE TUBING. It was SO frustrating and really hard to keep sanitary. The Lansinoh design is so great because there's really no way for milk to get in the tubing. I would HIGHLY recommend this pump to any mom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked well, February 21, 2010

This review is from: Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump BPA-free (Baby Product)
This pump was a good buy. I used it continually (And I mean CONTINUALLY) for several months (I had complications with breast feeding and so I pumped ONLY and breast fed my daughter from a bottle, so this pump was used and abused).
I bought this one to replace another pump that I had used and abused literally to its breaking point; the motor gave out and it lost some of its suction as a result.
The measurements on the bottles of this pump came off in one wash which made calculating the amount of milk difficult, especially for freezing/refrigerating, as the milk storage bags do not have exact measurements.
Comfortable flanges and suction, adequate suction (no pump can mimic your baby's suction perfectly, so not all milk will be extracted, but did a satisfactory job).
I would recommend a double pump bra for hands-free pumping as this makes EVERYTHING so much easier and less of a hassle. You may lose some suction power if the bra is not the right fit, so be cautious when shopping.
All in all this was a good buy and I would recommend it to a friend.
