3.0 out of 5 stars LEAKY BAGS, October 18, 2007
As far as bags go, this is a good bag as far as a double seal, how they only take up a minimal ammount of storage (after having frozen the contents in a flatten out manner an storing upright afterward), and being easy enuf to manipulate milk into a bottle.

HOWEVER!!!, after pumping religeously every three hours for three months to build up a hearty milk supply (which resulted in a huge stash of milk in two freezers), it breaks my heart that 25% of the milk I thaw winds up being wasted thru a ruptured bag.

The breaks in the bag happen along the bottom creases and the lower corners at the side seams. So (having hundreds of bags of milk to go thru) I now thaw my bags after I've placed each individual bag into an opened sandwich baggie before placing into a container of cold water in the fridge. I re-use the sandwich bags until they are no longer re-useable.

It's the best "prevention" I can think of in an attempt to save what I'd put so much effort into.

I have stored my frozen milk sitting upright (after freezing flattened)in cardboard boxes & extra refridgerator bins/drawers(like a file) and ziplock freezer bags and none of these methods seems to matter as far as ending up with ruptured bags.

It must simply be a defect in design/material.

You definitely want to minimize moving the bags around and knocking things into them. SO be sure to store in a place where you won't be stacking other frozen food items that might wind up hitting the bags, and be sure to place bags in manner that will decrease the amount of manipulation after they are frozen (placing newest collections to the back).

Altho expensive, I have purchased several sets of the Mother's Milk Mate (polypro) storage bottles. This type of bottle/material is highly recommended in the resources I've read concerning milk storage. Amamzon sells these very bottles which I have reviewed twice. If you can afford the bottles, buy them.

These bags have an up side to using them, as the milk bags are great if you are sending milk to Grandma's or the sitter's and ya don't want to come up missing the more expensive bottles.

I'm not sure if the other reviewers, who favorable reviewed these bags froze their milk, they didn't say....

If you are planning on freezing your milk for extended periods of time, I do not recommend these bags. I froze over 150 bags of milk and at least 50% of them leaked when I thawed them out months later. I did not overfill or do anything to these bags that would have caused them to leak. It is so discouraging to thaw milk and have it seep out the bottom/side of the bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best breastmilk bags around, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags, 75 ct (Health and Beauty)
These are hands down the best breast milk bags. I have solely breastfed 3 of my children (currently nursing a fourth) and have pumped at work with 3 of them. These breastmilk bags make it a little easier. They are thicker and more durable than the Gerber bags and I like the double closure that has always worked for me. The Gerber bags seem flimsy and are harder to pour from and seal on the first pass. It is easier for me to get the air bubbles out of the Lansinoh bags. As labor intensive as it can be to pump milk for a hungry baby I need the reliable bags to make sure the "liquid gold" isn't compromised!
