These saved my nipples and my breastfeeding. I almost gave up while in the hospital because my nipples were so sore and cracked. Thank god a nurse brought in a sample for me to try. It took a few days for my nipples to return to normal but this did make me feel better straight away - it was still painful until they healed but definitely bearable. I highly recommend every new mother gets this. I started with putting this on after every feeding; now I just do it as a precaution after longer feedings. Several reviewers mentioned that they didn't like consistency. I am not a huge fan - it is basically really hard to wash off and is kind of sticky, but I think that's why it works so well, I.e. Water can't get through. Also, there is absolutely no smell and a tube lasts a looooong time.

Didn't know this existed until my nipple became so sore during the first month of nursing. Got the Lanolin and use it a few times a day and feel so much better! It's very thick and a little bit goes a long way. Highly recommend it!

I found this product 20 years ago when I breast fed my first born. Now I use it for chapped lips and it works great. It is also great when little ones have a sore nose. It is superior to petrolium jelly.

It works pretty well for healing cracked nipples and providing some relief. However, my baby rejects breastfeeding sometimes when I have it on, even hours after applying. I had a lactation expert recommend applying breast milk or olive oil and those two things work just as well and are free. Plus, my baby will breastfeed.

I didn't do much research about breastfeeding until after my nipples became sore and cracked and started bleeding in my baby's mouth! I was horrified. I was firstly afraid of my baby ingesting the blood and secondly that I would not be able to breastfeed as I'm really against formulas. After a little research I found that it is ok to continue breast feeding and as long as you get the baby to "properly" latch on the nipple should heal. I started to coat my nips with breast milk and let it dry as instructed on several sites and books and apply Lansinoh Lanolin after every feeding and my nips were back in somewhat decent shaped in just two days! As stated by a previous reviewer, the cream is thick and a little goes a long way and I don't need to worry about it being rendered obsolete by the nursing pads. The first night I used the Medela tender care cream that came with my breast pump was not as thick and I don't feel it properly protected my nips from friction with the pads, shirts or anything covering it as it was easily wiped away.

I was able to pump without bloodshed when my nips were still beat up. So if you don't feel comfortable breastfeeding with injured nips, You can still breastfeed via pumping. However, all my research stated that it was perfectly safe for the baby to continue to breastfeed. So I did.

Good Luck, Happy Breastfeeding!

No one ever told me breastfeeding would be difficult. My mother had told me that she had fed all of her five children for a year each. So I assumed that when my baby was born it would be a magical experience. The whole process looked so natural and easy. Needless to say in the first few weeks after my son was born, I was horrified. I was in SO much pain. I would have to bite my lip every time he ate. One day I was feeding him and I looked down and there was blood all over his face, hands, and clothes and I burst into tears when I realized that the blood wasn't his, it was mine. Cracked nipples are graphic. My body was already like a battlefield, this was just the icing on the cake. I knew that I wanted to breastfeed my son because it was the best thing for him but I was on the brink of giving up when my mom suggested I try Lansinoh lanolin. Within a few days I could see improvement, it helped with the stinging, soreness, and cracking. The only thing it didn't do is numb the pain, but I don't see how a product that does that could be safe for baby. Breastfeeding is a breeze now, it just took some time, patience and a little Lansinoh.

This is stuff is awesome! It's definitely a must have for all breastfeeding mothers! It was such a life saver for me with my son in the beginning! My nipples were cracked and bleeding and it was so painful to feed him. But then I started using this and it healed them so well! My baby boy is 8mos old now and I still use it from time to time whenever I feel even the least bit sore (which is not too often, but this stuff helps so much!). It helps keep your skin soft and from drying out too much. It's also nice to know that it's all natural so you don't have to wash it off before nursing your baby. Please, if you're going to be breastfeeding your child get yourself some of this BEFORE you give birth. Take it with you to the hospital and start using it right away! Lanolin is also good for when you are pregnant and your nipples are itchy. It's such a life saver!
